Jigsaw Suit?

I am in desperate need of a new work wardrobe and after lurking around here for a while am thinking of investing in a new suit with jacket, trousers and skirt and can then just mix and match with different tops. I like the winter stretch cotton one on jigsaw but seems incredibly expensive. I have never shoppped in Jigsaw, Hobbs or similar before (live in Cornwall where there are next to no shops!!) - do you think it would be worth the money as an invesment or better to find a cheaper alternative? Any suggestions will be gratefully received!!

I personally think Jigsaw is overpriced these days, I used to buy things there from time to time but not really any more (unless sale price, and even then reduction often isn't great).

The suit looks nice but it's hard to tell online. Maybe the best idea is to go in store, try it on and see what you think of the fabric/cut etc to decide if you think it's worth the money.

There is a chance you'd get something just as nice and probably even better with the current sales - have you looked in Hobbs or Austin Reed, at the sale stuff? You could probably spend the same as the Jigsaw in total and get something really lovely? Just an idea.

Austin Reed sale jackets. I just got a work dress in teh sale there - having never dared step in the shop before - and am very impressed with the quality of their clothes and the reductions are really good.

Hobbs have lovely things too here are their jackets in teh sale. If you have all the shops near you maybe spend an afternoon checking them all out and then decide if you feel the Jigsaw suit is worth the money?

I have had bad experiences with Jigsaw suits, as has my sister. Unless they have changed, they crush terribly!!

Have you also tried Banana Republic and/or Reiss?

I'm with bunnymother about the crushing of Jigsaw suits. I used to have one that looked beautiful at 8am and by the time I got to the office it looked like I'd slept in it.

Nice designs but I think they're overpriced and don't wear well. On the other hand, I have a Hobbs one which was expensive but it's still going strong after an embarrassingly long period of time.

Hmm, same experience with Jigsaw suits - plus they have habit of using exactly the same fabric, season after season, until it gets v boring and you work out that they must have bought 100 warehouses' worth of the stuff a decade ago..

That is helpful thank you - unfortunately there are no decent shops anywhere near where I live I did have a quick look at Hobbs but will check them out again and also Reiss

If you are willing to spend more money the most 'successful' suit I ever had (in terms compliments and durability) was from Max Mara. (sadly not an option for me at the moment). There again I'm a short arse - tend to find Italian sizes good whereas Hobbs I feel made for a standard taller UK size 12.
