3rdnparty · 20/01/2010 14:24

My have got a lot worse over last couple of years and although I know they are genetic they are getting me down...so I saw a clinic that treats them with a laser ... costs about £100 a session though and they advise I will probably need at least 3 sessions.. which is a lot of money for me..

Has anyone had this done? did it work? if so how long did the effects last ..... any info appreciated .Thanks

I'm interested in this too. Bump.

bump again

Have you tried www.skindoctors.co.uk/view_cat.php?cat=problemspecific?

I have been meaning to try it for ages so can't recommend.

faustina · 20/01/2010 19:38

I tried it - it was very expensive and painful and it made my skin lumpy, Wasn't very successful at getting rid of the broken veins either, although it made a brown sun damage spot almost vanish.

I had much more success with electrolyisis - it worked better, was cheaper and marginally less painful

JustBe · 20/01/2010 19:50

Would also love to hear if anyone has had good success in removing them as I`m noticing them more and more on my face.

Hate having to wear make up all the time to cover them up.

am tempted by the cream- but I think will fade rather than get rid.... having to layer make up eg stuff for red sin/primer/foundation etc on and still doesn't really work and hate wearing it too...

I've been using Red Alert for the past 8 weeks for very bad thread veins on my legs, they are really beginning to fade now, the smaller veins are really hardly noticeable at all now, it's suitable for the face - might be worth a go?

bellissima · 21/01/2010 14:32

I had a little 'spider' of red veins near (but not that near!) my eye removed by electrolysis years ago (?Tao clinic Knightsbridge - or something like that) - was completely successful - faded to brown then disappeared. And not even that painful. But attempts on/around nose more recently both more painful and less successful. Maybe because skin thicker and broken veins less isolated.

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 21/01/2010 14:38

I've got face veins too - glad to hear it's hereditory, I always thought it was down to the booze. The Red Alert looks interesting.

I tried the Skin Doctors one a few years back and can't say I noticed any difference.

Am too scared tight to spend money on the laser treatment I think.

3rdnparty · 21/01/2010 16:35

I too thought they were a combination of smoking/drinking/no sun screen but my mum advises my nan and all her side of the family also got them.........but not til older than me so they may have been excelerated by less than healthy behaviour ... think will try cream first as outlay more suitable.....and less scary!

I had Veinwave a couple of years ago and it was great. Totally got rid of them but was quite expensive around £250 for three sessions. However I think it was totally worth it.

lulu12345 · 21/01/2010 21:21

I enquired about this at Harley Medical when I was getting some microdermabrasion recenlty and the nurse told me they had stopped doing it completely because there were so many complaints about poor results, tearing skin etc!!

I really want to get rid also though so keen to hear any stories of success!

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 21/01/2010 21:27

I had laser treatment to get rid of veins caused by rosacea 20 years ago (at a Childrens Hospital on Canada's equivalent of the NHS). It took about six sessions, looked horrible for a few weeks afterwards, but has lasted wonderfully. If you're talking about the same thing, I would recommend it, although after 20 years I would have thought they'd have perfected this and from what other posters are saying, it's not sounding like the same thing.

BecauseImWorthIt · 21/01/2010 21:32

I have mine done at Cosmedicate, on Harley Street - they charge around £30 per session, nowhere near as much as you have been paying

here's their telephone number

Sorry, I couldn't find their website for some reason.

poolet · 21/01/2010 21:48

I've had about 10 treatments for rosacea - 6 were actually provided on the NHS and I paid £125 per session for the rest several years ago. The results were quite good, but not as good as I'd expected. I found it uncomfortable, I bruised quite badly afterwards and the bruises took 2 or 3 weeks to fade. I had the laser treatment monthly so I had bruises for most of the time I was undergoing treatment! I still don't have the confidence to not wear some makeup but don't need anything heavy - a little normal foundation is fine and actually protects my skin which is quite thin - all my veins are very noticeable.

3rdnparty · 23/01/2010 15:39

thanks cosmedicate... will give them a call... was that for laser or extrolysis??
