do you know, i probably wouldn't even notice aero! lol

i don't think i could live with it, because it would really annoy me (i'm weird like that)... but probably wouldn't even pay any attention to it in anyone else's house!

becca, I just meant is it shiny or matt? If it's matt then you can paint over no probs, if it's shiny the paint won't stick so well. (Doesn't matter if it bubbles up when the paint is wet, as it dries it will stick itself down again )

popsycal · 04/07/2005 22:01

i would paint it
get a matt whiite first then your colour

for some reason I think mint green and lemon look particularly unpleasant on top of textured wallpaper... bit like a damp bungalow that somebody died in. What colour do you plan to use? Some are better than others IMO.

phew - breathes sigh of relief! (I'll get the plasterers in before you come. )

Aero · 04/07/2005 22:04

rickman - you've seen my house - does it look naff? I'm paranoid now!

don't worry, i wouldn't tell you it's naff to your face! pmsl

We always use Dulux One Coat because we are lazy!

Thinking of a creamy/coffee colour

Okey dokey.

Tortington · 04/07/2005 22:44

i actually chose this wallpaper on the basis of painting it to refresh.

wallpaper as the plaster is crap - its a HA house - need i say more? plus i hate spending hundredds of quid and weekends decorating - theres better stuff to do - like shove a rocket up your own ar(se and light it

my front room, dining room, kitchen bathroom, toilet are all in wallpaper that can be painted over when it looks grubby.

peckarollover · 04/07/2005 22:50

We have plasterboard in this HA flat. Woohoo! It's nice and smooth. Painted our bedroom a lovely fawn grey colour with lilac and blue accents. DD's room - which she'll share w/her brother or sister when he/she arrives - is a gorgeous pale sage w/flower fairy wallpaper cutouts. Found Dulux Wipe Clean Matt for £2.50 a litre in Bernardo's one day and thought, 'Hmm, someone's telling us to redecorate.'

The hall was already cream-coloured, but we painted it over it - same shade - with Dulux Wipe Clean to accommodate dirty wee handies.
