Hair - I want to embrace my waves

I've got shoulder length, fine hair (but a lot of it apparently) with a bit of a wave). Normally I wash and blowdry and it goes straight with a wee bit of a kink in the front. Yesterday, I spent 15 mins trying to put GHD curls in my hair with no great results.

Today I have washed and conditioned it, run a comb through it while it was wet and left it to dry naturally and voila, have got lovely shiny waves. The kind I was striving to create yesterday.

Am pleased with the results but are there any of you out there with the same hair type who have embraced their waves achieve a great look everytime. What products do you use and how do you dry it.

Mines seems to be hit or miss as to whether it will wave or not. Am fed up blow drying and having to straighten out the kinks.

Thanks

Me! I've just started this

Basically, you wash your hair with conditioner, or if you need shampoo you make sure it doesn't have silicones in it.

There is lots of info on the site, and a few threads on here too

Ooh thanks for this. I wouldn't say my hair is all that curly though, just soft waves at the ends.

Would it work for that? What products do you use?

they have a 'types' page which might help here

I think I'm a type 2B.If I leave it to dry it is wavy with some curls, if I blow dry it is a big flyaway frizz. I always have kinks if I try to do it straight (although the hairdresser can do it[usless stylist emoticon])

I have only just started, so I used the Aussie Rules miracle moist shampoo to remove th silicones, then I conditioned with Dr Organics aloe vera- they tell you to comb it through with your fingers, then give it only the briefest of rinses.

Then I 'plopped' it with an old t-shirt.

Then I used Boots essentials pink curl creme (v cheap) and scrunched it into my hair while hanging head upside down over bath iyswim.

Lastly I wrapped my head in the t-shirt, and went to bed. Lots of lovely curls this morning.

It's not necessary to leave the wrap on 'till dry, you can dry with a diffuser.

I am going to use Original source mint and tea tree for my conditioner wash tomorrow, then the Dr O as a leave in, and the pink creme as a styler.
I have a Dr Organics aloe vera shampoo as a 'lo-poo' shampoo if I think I need it.

another vote for the fab cheapy boots pink curl creme . i have a jaw length very thick wavy type bob that gets curlier the dirtier it gets

FWIW, i can do ghd curls and they look fab, but then drop out leaving hair straight!!!

leaving to dry naturally, winding bits round my fingers every so often is much better than blowdrying.

Thanks again.

Will stock up on those items and expect amazing results. I will be reading up on 'plopping'!
