How do I get rid of blackheads on my nose??

andirobobo · 15/01/2010 21:04

OK my New Years Resolution is to get myself sorted and the first is to rid my poor conk of blackheads!

I have had them for years and years and they never seem to get any better or worse.

Is there any hope or am I destined to have them forever?

I have tried face masks and those pore strip things, which are ok but dont solve the problem!

Any experts out there please!!!

I have only used it on my face! I use these gloves for my body and they work really well.

Well a trip to Boots is in order - I love the Soap and Glory stuff. That is worth a try to start with, thanks!

oil cleansing!
amazing!

I love S&G stuff too. I got the Clean on me bodywash and the Righteous body butter for Christmas. This might be worth a try too.

Are they blackheads or just open pores? I thought I had blacheads for years and did a lot of squeezing. Yes I know very bad!
Only just realised they are open pores now! Tackle them by good cleansing method that isn't too greasy.

Aspirin mask

Get some cheap aspirin, the non coated type. Grind them down with the back of a spoon and mix to a paste with some water. Scrub over your nose and leave to go dry - about 5mins.
Rinse well.

You can add the aspirin to another cream or face mask and slap that on the nose area. You can also mix the aspirin with honey or yoghurt instead of water.

It's the salicylic acid in the Aspirin that removes the blackheads. Be careful only to use it on the nose area and dont leave it on too long.

Put benzoyl peroxide gel on at night for a couple of weeks. 2.5% is the least irritating.

Ime ther is nothing you can do to get rid of existing blackheads other than squeezing them gently.

YOu need to then use products that don't block pores if you wear makeup.

Also drying your skin with harsh products will encourage excess oil production and make the matters worse, oil cleansing method is good .

IWishIWasAFrog · 16/01/2010 21:53

Try Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse, it's a oil that emulsifies on contact with water, so you give your face a long rub and then rinse off with water. It's a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way, and IMO really worth it. Use just a few times per week. My mum, who was (is) a pharmacist for 45-odd years, has this theory that oil dissolves oil, and soap makes oil go hard, so clean with oil (like the above) and soap free cleansers, if that makes sense. She is 63 and has almost perfect skin. HTH.

IWishIWasAFrog · 16/01/2010 21:55

Sorry, that should be 35-odd years!

LaurieFairyCake · 16/01/2010 21:56

the Body shop used to do this product called 'japanese washing grains' which was just aduki beans finely ground.

It's very cheap to get some aduki beans, grind it and then make it into a paste with a little water and scrub your nose.

It's quite effective and can be used often as it's gentle.

Another vote for oil cleansing. I've tried all manner of scrubs and exfoliants over the years and they work on the pores short-term; but oil cleansing is much more effective AND much kinder to the rest of my face (I get flare-ups on my cheeks if I exfoliate too much).

Romanarama · 17/01/2010 09:08

I tried OCM and the blackheads got much, much worse, so it's not for everyone. Benzoyl Peroxide made them go away without any squeezing though.
