Actually strike adorable. I'm 41! My adorable days are over. I want to look elegant and cool and alluring in an understated way.

Thanks Guad. I shall definitely report back. Gawd

Right. Well. I tried on dresses. Many dresses. Some rather fabulous dresses. I might give up on the man look and work the LAYDEE look. I had a moment with a Prada dress.

cornsilk - i"ve actually got that one...and it's gorgeous but in reality (though the picture is slightly deceiving) it isn't really that formal.

ahundredtimes · 16/01/2010 18:17

hellsbelles - the one on the front page, that one?

Just a last minute thought.

If you get a nice evening dress but feel too formal in it - I know excatly what you mean- what about a soft 'biker' style jacket to make the look a bit edgier. I got one today for £100 from River Island. Looks great and I'm wearing it to a formal do this weekend.

ahundredtimes · 16/01/2010 19:41

Yes, a sort of dress down? What kind of a biker jacket? Can you link? Will you wear it?

Oh this also reminds me.

Upper arms. Hmmm. What can I put on my upper arms - they're white not too flabby, but a bit bare. Is there some miracle thing I can use?

Yikes I'm no good at linking and it's still in the bag but I will describe.

It's a very soft leather,It is based on the tradtional biker jacket style with the aysemetrical zip, It's main body is perferated.

DH bought if for me today to wear to the do on Saturday which is terribly formal (but I'm not!)He LOVED me in it and said get it straight away.

I usually wear proper biker jackets and Belstaffs with jeans when I go out so this is a 'posh' version of something I feel comfortable in.

I've got several LBD which I'm going to try on to see what looks best including one with netting underneath which I may wear with hight ankle/boot shoes. Also DH got me a LBD from River Island as well so I'm keeping that as on option.

The product code for the jacket if it is any good to you is 582719 and called Lady H from Department 117.

I'm a couple of years older than you at 44.

ahundredtimes · 17/01/2010 11:01

Well I think it sounds great. I'm not sure I could carry it as I don't normally wear proper biker jackets, and so if I did as a dress down item, I'd feel even more weird whereas I think it's going to be perfect on and for you.

I shall find a perfect dress down item however. It might be a big ugly bag or possibly something totally odd like a cloth cap. I'm working on it
