How do YOU store earrings? Can you recommend something?

At the moment my sizeable earring collection is either is my dressing-gown pocket or in a bowl in the bathroom. It takes me forever to find a complete pair - they're just a jumbled tangled mess.

I've googled and there are quite a lot of options - but some seem a bit flimsy/faffy. What do other people do?

I use a glass and hang them round the top if they are the 'hangy' kind. Otherwise I just shove them in bowls or in their box. I maybe dont have that many though.

I've got a jewellery box with lots of compartments now. I used to use a cork board with each pair pinned to it using big map pins - dead cheap and actually looked quite good, but only works for dangly-type earrings.

I use a sheet of funky foam which I've got pinned up on the inside of one of the doors of my wardrobe. You can put all your earrings through it, studs or drops ones and have them in pairs without them getting tangled.

Obviously you wouldn't need the 40 sheets I've linked to(unless you have an outrageous earring collection) but you can get it in singles from art and craft shops very cheaply.

Thanks all - lots of much better ideas than I'd found myself. I do like the foam idea lots - my collection is getting dangerously close to the 40 sheets limit .

paisleyleaf · 11/01/2010 14:07

I poke them through a scarf I've got hanging up.

Floopy21 · 11/01/2010 15:41

I snipped a bit of bamboo blind off, hung it on the side of the wardrobe & just poked the 'hangy' ones through & put the backs on the studs the other side of the blind, IYSWIM?

I bought an old pretty frame without a back and stapled chicken wire across the back of it. I can hang earrings, sunglasses etc on the wire. Works really well!

AngelinaJolly · 11/01/2010 21:56

I have a ferraro rocher box

Inside is a piece of stiff perspex

This has little holes in with my ear-rings in

GentleOtter · 11/01/2010 22:02

My lovely, lovely Mum bought me some Jewellery Stackers for Christmas - they are the business for earrings and look so stylish they have raised the tone of my entire bedroom.
