'Natural' Deodorant?

chaostrulyreigns · 10/01/2010 16:17

My PFB is now 10 and her body is starting to mature.

She has veryvery delicate skin and I want to avoid putting harsh chemicals on her on a daily basis.

I would also like the product to be not too expensive and easily available.

Has anyone any suggestions?

yy

pit rock

hocuspontas · 10/01/2010 18:05

Agree with Pitrok. Dd2 uses it but she does need something else in the summer as she is particularly whiffy. I use it all year round. I think it's about £4.00 but seems to last forever.

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 10/01/2010 20:00

My Dh uses pitrok and is not whiffy.

chaostrulyreigns · 10/01/2010 20:09

Thanks I shall try both.

Where do I get pitrok from?

Holland and Barrett do natural deodorants such as Pitrok, and other health food shops.

hocuspontas · 10/01/2010 20:16

I get mine in Waitrose.

I just looked at Pitrok on-line and it said 'Do NOT wet under the tap'. (Their caps)Eeek! I always do that - now I'm scared something awful could happen to me

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 10/01/2010 20:17

I thought the theory on 'harsh chemicals' in deodorants hadn't been proved.

None of the above work ime - I use mum and DD (12) uses Vaseline Intensive Care. It's really upsetting for young girls to feel 'smelly', but best of luck with the crystals.

TaurielTest · 10/01/2010 20:29

Crystal ones like Pitrok are great - my sis gave me one for my hospital bag (was avoiding using soaps and chemicals for a couple of weeks after birth to help with skin-to-skin), and I was quite sceptical, but amazed how well it works. I honestly find it more effective than anti-perspirants like Mitchum.
No need to wet under taps if you have a morning shower, just whack it on while you're still wet! Can't see why doing that would be a problem though?

chaostrulyreigns · 10/01/2010 21:16

OLOPS I think I'm just very wary about what i put on her skin - she has Lichen sclerosis and her skin is very easily marked.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions.
