do you wear it everyday out and about? do you need a hat pin (seriously!)? i should love to wear hats like that but think they owuld blow off.

am strangely attracted to snoods. yes? no?

JaneiteIsAWimpyTeacher · 09/01/2010 17:40

I tried that M&S one on but it was too big for my munchkin head.

I don't know about Anthro but I like the topiary one. Urban Outfitters sometimes have some cute hats.

DarrellRivers · 09/01/2010 17:43

I bought one in the autumn and then we had a unreasonably warm few months and I forgot about it.
It's funny , i have bought hats for many years and been too self conscious to wear them apart from weddings
Lots of people are wearing hats, those beret ones in particular (i find them harder to wear) and look really lovely, and so I haven't felt self-conscious this time
I find the cloche is stylish but easy to wear, it doesn't slip off, and I don't have a hat-pin, perhaps I need one, it might be like brooches
I love gloves, brooches, scarves etc, brightens up your coat.
Will go and search Urbanoutfitters

they do look nice. and i can see myself acquiring a large collection of hatpins if i knew where they were sold and used them.

perhaps i could knit a snood...

things on my head make me so hot though, even in this weather...i wear earmuffs but am slightly concerned that i look 6

MayorNaze · 09/01/2010 17:59

do you not get hat hair?

JaneiteIsAWimpyTeacher · 09/01/2010 18:00

Not really excited by any of them tbh - the side detailing one looks a bit old lady, sorry.

I like the Kimchi sold out one and hate the snood.

JaneiteIsAWimpyTeacher · 09/01/2010 18:01

MayorNaze - I am confused now because I thought you were somebody v oldie on here and incognito but now you seem not to be.

DarrellRivers · 09/01/2010 18:04

My hair doesn't really seem to change much tbh
janeite, it all depends how you wear it
like tweed trousers can be very old ladyish, but also very cool if worn in the right context [hopes very hard she is not looking like an old lady]

OP posts:
JaneiteIsAWimpyTeacher · 09/01/2010 18:06

Wide legged tweed trousers and silk cami with cashmere cardigan = lovely and not old lady at all.

Hat - nope, still not sure. Without the side detail = good / with = not so good.

MayorNaze · 09/01/2010 18:19

sorry - called away...

i am quite an oldie but prob not who you;re thinking of

DarrellRivers · 09/01/2010 18:19

Think will go for a simple design, but in a strong colour

OP posts:
MayorNaze · 09/01/2010 18:21

JaneiteIsAWimpyTeacher · 09/01/2010 18:21

MayorNaze · 09/01/2010 18:21

tweed skirt and funky boots is nice i think?

SlightlyFoxed · 09/01/2010 18:26

I have this one - have never done hats before but quite liking the cloche look.

JaneiteIsAWimpyTeacher · 09/01/2010 22:53

Lovely colour.

MrsSeanBean · 10/01/2010 11:34

I've ordered this cloche hat. I love hats

You can usually buy nice vintage hatpins on ebay MayorNaze.

CremeDeMenthe · 10/01/2010 11:40

Ooh, I have one somewhere, from the days when one wore hats to weddings. It's black & velvet IIRC. Should I dig it out?
