Tufty post baby hair - how to tame it?

I had ds 9 months ago and went through the hair falling out as usual. No more than average I thought. Anyhow now I have LOTS of inch or two long tufty hairs coming through that refuse to lay down with my fine straight hair.
What can I do. Today I had to give myself hat hair to make them behave!

No solutions, but me too! I have tendrils crawling down my forehead! I kinda match ds and his new hair.

I'm afraid you have to get the straighteners out. O ly thing that worked for me.

FlightAttendant · 09/01/2010 14:18

I'm afraid I got it all cut to about 2" long!!! Or maybe 3 or 4.

It was just so lame, it was boob length but just thinned out a lot so it looked dull as dull.

He's now 2 and a half and it is back to that length, amazingly...and very thick.

I would get a good hairdresser to lop it into a layered style that incorporates the new texture.
(my hairdresser wasn't that great and I looked like a bloke - but was so depressed I didn't care!)

Me too! My friend recently asked me if I was growing back shaved hair.

My tendrils are about 2" too.

Not brave enough to cut it to 2" though!

Watching with interest for any slightly less severe suggestions

Me too! I have horns if I scrape my hair back - nothing much we can do to be honest. Occupational hazard of the job!

Do you wear you hair tied back? If so, just smooth it with some hairspray, that helps mine.

I wore a wide hairband when I went through the 'mullet' stage. Now at about 5 inches I really should get it cut to shoulder length. Ironically I've been trying to grow it all my life. Now it's the longest it's ever been but it's so wispy at the ends and not the long glorious mane that I'd been hoping for!

Go to Claire's Accessories and stock up on various clips, bands etc.

Or buy a wig!

My hair has been driving me mad for months - it's particularly tufty round my forehead. It hadn't occured to me that it was post-baby related. Another thing they never tell you before you get pg...

No suggestions unfortunately.

Thanks ladies!
Luckily the cold weather is here to stay so I have plenty of opportunities to give myself hat hair as I am trying to grow it and don't want to go back to pixie short hair.
Cuppateajanic- what sort of wide hairband? I either look like I'm wearing a bandanna or a bit too horsey/ sloane ranger iyswim!

I had tuftys at my temples. I got a fringe in the end and the tufty bits are now growing under it. Worked a treat as I looked a bit bonkers before.

schiaparellipink · 10/01/2010 11:16

am also sharing your pain, i've got a weird 1" fringey thing around my temples and forehead and random short hairs popping up all over. hate it but at least by the summer they will have grown to a reasonable length again
