Do I get my long hair chopped into a bob?

Been deliberating about this for ages. Got long dark hair with a fringe. Took me three years to dare to get a fringe (not very adventurous when it comes to getting my hair done differently!) and I love it and now wondering about a bob. I've had one before - when I was a lot younger but think it would look current and fit in with my lifestyle (16-month old and another soon to be on the way). I rarely tie my hair back (except when it's a mess and I can't be bothered to wash it. I'm 32, slim and tall if that makes a difference.

My hairdresser persuaded me to go for a bob recently, but I wouldn't go shorter than shoulder-length.

It felt all wrong for the first couple of weeks when it was too short, I quite like it now but I find it MORE of a faff to "do" - I have fine straight hair and it goes UP at the ends when it sits on my shoulders/collars unless I use rollers on it when wet.

I went for it a couple of months ago, having had long blonde hair for, well, forever really.

I am SO glad I did. I love it. It looks young and funky and is so easy to style. Mine is about 3 inches above the shoulder and I flick out the ends when I can be bothered.

Couldn't be happier with it.

Go for it! I've had mine done and its great. Still don;t have to wash it everyday either. Its really quick to blowdry then whizz the straigners through it and it lasts for a couple of days.

I think long hair i great if you do lots with it...but i never did so began to wonder what the point was...it also looks thicker now its shorter

When I had a bob I found I had to blow dry to stopit "turning out".
Blöödy annoying.

Now all one length, just above shoulders.
Doesn´t stick out even if I leave it to dry, looks styled & can tie it back.

Great compromise for me.

Me too Diddl - am at that annoying stage.

So I should go shorter [wonders if she is brave enough]

I am reading with interest though I have curly (not mega curls but more than wavy) hair.

I have had really really short hair and that DEFINITELY is more maintenance. But a bob... maybe.... I'm really wondering now I've read the comments here.

I would definitely not have any time to style or blow dry or anything though so would have to be very easy to manage.

If anyone has wavy frizz prone hair, I reckon length is better as it weighs it down and calms it a bit.

MrsSeanBean · 06/01/2010 19:47

By 'length' I mean at least shoulder length.

mine was long and blonde, and i went to dark and bobbed! and i love it. i love the idea of long hair but it really doesnt do much for me, and my hair is fine so as it gets long it just gets flat, so i had it chopped to a bob and its so much better, more modern and easy to do, and i feel less mumsy as well!

if you dont like it doesnt take long to grow out.
