If you have sensitive, dry, easily flushed (maybe rosacea?) skin...what do you use to wash your face?

I'm trying to get a proper skincare routine - my skin has been so rubbish that I've been afraid of using much of anything. I could use recommendations if you found anything that doesn't dry your skin - I did try the oil cleansing method for a bit but found the hot flannels irritated my skin and I never felt like my skin was being cleaned.

I have had 'orrible skin, mixture of dry/flaky but still prone to spots at times! I now use Liz Earle stuff, cleanse and polish - you do use a hot muslin cloth with this but I do find my skin feels (and looks) really clean afterwards and not at all tight. I've just started using her superskin moisturiser as well which is a bit pricey for me but it is damn good stuff.

Try searching for the Oil Cleansing Method on here- very interesting, has been a revelation for many posters with sensitive skin.

I've used Aqueous Cream to cleanse and moisturise ever since my sister told me about it probably over 15 years ago.

Every so often I change to a 'proper' cream but have to go back after a few weeks as I get odd rough-looking spots under the skin, which itch if I don't go back to the old favourite.

I also like the OC method, but I know that I couldn't sustain using it exclusively as everything would be too sensitised.

Another thing I'nm convinced would make a difference is softened water - have no itchy probs when abroad. Must make it a NY resolution.

I would recommend Liz Earle cleanse and polish.

Very gentle . I don't have rosacea but do have very sensitive skin and it is fine for me.

yes i think the hard water where i live has def made me worse. Thinking about it more i wondered whether those types you wipe off with cotton wool would be better ? Avoid the heat and hardness of water completely? Tried liz earle a while back and found it burny.

Duac is boss, yes.

Trouble is, Ladybee, I always feel like I need a good splash of water on my face - anything left on (apart from said Aqueous Cream)starts to react, and I can't relax until I've washed it away.

The hard water is rather drying, but it's better than a load of unknown substances left on your face.

try Chanel douceur face wash - it lasts forever and doesn't dry the skin. Just rinse off with splashing, no cloth needed

I use Clarins gentle foaming cleanser, it-s supposed to neutralise hard water.

Hi I have got rosacea and after a lot of different products now use Dermalogica. I have got the ultra calming cleanser and use their cloth to wipe it off. I don't use water as it dries my skin out more. I then use their skin smoothing cream as my skin is dehydrated. You can have facial and consultation for about £30 where they examine your skin and advise on products.
I was a bit at the price but it has been well worth it. The products last for ages and have actually worked on my skin.
Have also found sites on internet which sell cheaper than the beauty salons.

La Roche Posay is a great french brand that a lot of dermatologists recommend. You can get at larger boots and it has a range especially for rosecea.

pinkhousesarebest · 03/01/2010 12:08

I use Rosaliac by La Roche Posay. I have sensitive skin and my dermatologist advised me to use this and their great and cheap moisturiser called Nutritic. it is for dry or very dry skin, and has really sorted me out.

oh those look like really great suggestions. Thanks so much, I'll check them out.
