Maternity dungarees - yes or no???

I'm finding all my jeans are beginning to become just too uncomfortable (30 weeks pregnant) and was wondering about a pair of dungarees... I'm a size 10 but expanding and long to be comfy!

The ONLY ones I can find (as Ebay seems very lacking) are Mothercare ones at £35 - seems a lot but then if I wear them day in, day out, for 10 weeks surely that's worth the late purchase?

Anyone bought these? Are they a big or small fit?? Any general thoughts - are dungarees just too 80s'??! Or too naff? Or a godsend?!

they're awful. Get those jersey trousers with roll=top waist that won't fall down and don't hug your thighs. Really comfy. Dungarees look completely ridiculous on adults.

TaLcYtim · 23/12/2009 09:00

Yes!

Mimi1977 · 23/12/2009 13:02

No No No. Someone I knew wore them when pregnant and it just looked awful. Being pregnant is no excuse to have a style bypass. Go with leggings and tunics if you want comfort as they are really stylish and you won't look like a hillbilly!

No no no no no.

Please don't!

I borrowed some when pregnant with dd1 and LOVED them. I'm almost 6 foot so they probably make me look like the side of a house but they were just so so comfortable! It was mid summer in Scotland so I wore my denim ones with a vest top under and liked the look a lot!

I love dungarees!

(dresses are the other option of course if waists are getting uncomfy.)

Good God. I would rather die, but I suppose it depends on how uncomfortable you are - I am still wearing my regular jeans with a bump band as snug is better than falling down and anything is better than dungarees!

chickbean · 23/12/2009 14:13

Just to add to Blue Kangaroo - dungarees may be okay in the summer, when it's warm, but think of all the layers you'll need to take off before you can go to the loo.

CommonNortherner · 23/12/2009 14:35

Yes! Retro!

trixymalixy · 24/12/2009 00:47

No No No No!!!!!!!

Peacocks do some good jersey over the bump jersey trousers that are very comfortable.

motherlovebone · 24/12/2009 12:05

depends.
i think some could wear them..
tuck them into your uggs, team with a huge chunky scarf.
on someone petite they could look sweet.
the only way you will know is to give them a try.

upafrozenhill · 25/12/2009 16:22

Fine if you're going on a CND peace march circa 1982 otherwise leave them alone!

It's the hormones that are making your brain haddled to possibly think they culd be ok surely?

FrameyMcFrame · 25/12/2009 23:45

Yes!
Dungarees can look really cute and retro.
If you like them, do it! you could layer a couple of tops underneath with a nice scarf.
In fact I want some and I'm not even pregnant!

MummyTumble · 26/12/2009 08:43

good god no - never in a million years. dungarees for babies.

go for leggings and long jumpers/dresses. they;re everywhere, even in tescos!!....they have transformed my life and wardrobe this pregnancy!

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 27/12/2009 15:18

I had some from vertbaudet and lived in them for my last two pregnancies. They may not be fashionable but god are they comfy.

Do it, who cares what anyone else thinks. You are pregnant and deserve some comfortable clothing. I also think mine look good on photos. I least I look pg, rather than just fat in them!
