I have tried Vaseline and Carmex which haven't done much good. What is your miracle solution? It feels so horrible!

elizabeth arden 8 hour cream

CybilinExcelsisDaewoo · 21/12/2009 08:22

rub them with a damp flannel to get the flakes off

belgo · 21/12/2009 08:23

Just about to recommend carmex, and aloe vera vaseline in the green tin.

Ewe · 21/12/2009 08:26

That is a good call ruby! Have some in the bottom of a bag somewhere.

Not sure why, but carmex and vaseline seem to be making them worse, fine for two seconds after I have used them and then even worse than they were before.

Bloody cold weather!

It's possible to be allergic to vaseline so I'd stop using it if I were you, as it shouldn't make your lips worse!

kateecass · 21/12/2009 15:28

Vaseline make mine worse too. 8 hour cream is great or whatever lipsalve is in short stubby dark blue screw up lipstick style tube. It's lost so can't remember name!

NativityApple · 21/12/2009 15:31

I got a tiny pot of Eve Lom lip stuff from Secret Santa last year - it was bliss. Lost it now, obviously.

Alicehasamincepieintheoven · 21/12/2009 15:31

I once had the Bodyshops vit E lip balm and that was very good.

I use the vaseline rosy lips now though, but if you don't get on with vaseline, probably no use to you

andiem · 21/12/2009 15:31

blistex it is water based not oil and is fab

jeminXmashell · 21/12/2009 15:34

As an aside, my mum once squeezed blistex into my dads eye as it looked similar to his eye cream tube....he didn't hald jump around the kitchen.....

displayuntiltwelfthnight · 21/12/2009 15:34

Molten Brown do a lovely lipsalve which I find excellent in this chilly weather and use it on cheeks to to stop chapping - ask Santa to slip one in your stocking

jeminXmashell · 21/12/2009 15:34

HALF jump around the kitchen...

Skimummy · 21/12/2009 15:51

Couldn't find my 8 hour cream but just back from House of Fraser with a new one and my GOD my lips feel fantastic.

Thanks all! If this doesn't result in super smooth lips I will work my way down the list. Never really had chapped lips before, I want it to be the last time, it bloody hurts!

The only thing that works for me is Neutrogena lip stuff - nothing else works

snowmummy · 21/12/2009 19:53

Blistex

coolma · 21/12/2009 19:56

elemis lip salve - ahhhhhhhhh

AuntieMaggie · 21/12/2009 19:56

8 hour cream here too

absolutely smother them in it before bed and your lips will be lovely by morning

Dozymare · 21/12/2009 19:56

I used to be a MASSIVE fan of EA 8 hour cream - until I discovered waitrose bottom butter, meant for a babies derriere but my goodness me, fantastic on chapped lips (DS gets very red and sore lips and one slathering of bottom butter and they are babysoft the next day. Also smells so much nice than 8 hour cream....

Ewe · 21/12/2009 20:13

Been using bottom butter on them today and has helped a little but the EA has really sorted them, I just managed to eat which I have struggled with all day!

Going to start using bottom butter as everyday barrier lip balm though I think. It is lovely!
