My man has ASKED for socks for Christmas?!

Dp has finally sent me his Christmas list and it includes a request for socks like these (but he isn't that keen on these apparently)

Does anyone know anything about socks?

My DH likes stripey socks (all John Snow's fault) and I have found them in M&S and for Christmas got him some very nice ones in Next.

I love socks, I think it's a shame tat it's seen as naffo to give them for christmas. If I got nothing but nice socks I'd be happy!

John Lewis and Gap are good for men's stripy socks.

I don't do 'A bit like these but NOT these' i'm afraid!!! Too wide-a-spectrum! My DH has tried it for years and I still say bollocks - He ends up disappointed!!!! BHS do black socks with stripey legs and toe bits which have a persons name and it's meaning on the black bit. Can't find the actual link but try this for starters

Thank you all.

Am looking at JL now.

He wouldn't like his name on them - any writing at all actually. He's bloody fussy.

Yep 2 years ago I said the exact same thing on here about DH - He now likes socks with his name on and LONG JOHNS Go figure ....He is only in his early 30's........

Zembo · 15/12/2009 06:21

John Snow wears a lot of Duchamp ties, haven't noticed his socks but sound like they might be Duchamp too.

chimchar · 15/12/2009 06:54

tkmaxx have lovley funky posh mens socks....

Flightattendant · 15/12/2009 06:59

I asked for socks last year and it was all I got...i was trying to prevent people (my parents) spending money on stuff I didn't need and didn't like.
The socks were not a great success. I got one really good pair that was very expensive (thick walking socks) and a few other short pairs that were great till they were washed and shrank.
But also some that were just not the right sort at all.

This year we have agreed no presents between us, just for the children.. and it's such a relief!

But anyway, if he wants socks, you need to ask him exactly what kind. Even a sock gift can go wrong. Trust me

Flightattendant · 15/12/2009 07:01

M&S do reasonable mens socks in that kind of style. Is he above M&S though do you think in terms of branding?

Stylelostinlabour · 15/12/2009 16:26

Hi

My DH loves those types of socks and I have bought Paul Smith ones but they last all of three seconds and at 14 quid a pair and wholes in the by Boxing Day was a little disappointed!

He now has, loves and last at lot longer the GAP socks, same funky design, MS and John Lewis do some great ranges own make.

Happy Sock huntin!

domesticslattern · 15/12/2009 20:18

That's funny stylelostinlabour my DH's Paul Smith socks got holes on their first wear too! We thought he had particularly spiky toenails, but wouldn't go back to Paul Smith for socks either.

Lulumama · 15/12/2009 20:20

my dad is a sock afficonado and loves his many pairs of paul smith socks, which have remained hole free AFAIK

Hugo boss do good socks, try somewhere like house of fraser or flannels or fancy mens; boutiques.

or autograph at M&S

monkeysmama · 16/12/2009 07:58

Thanks for all the suggestions. I had no idea the world of socks was so confusing .
