Nice non-towelling, non-velour, non-fleece dressing gown for kids!

Does such a thing exist? I have an aversion to towelling, velour and fleece, so wanted to find something for 2yo DS that's maybe just cotton. Or similar plain fabric.

Can anyone help?

It's expensive, but there is a bamboo dressing gown on www.wellcultivated.co.uk which according to the blurb "feels like cashmere".

brimfull · 14/12/2009 09:03

why do have aversion to them?

MrsTittleMouse · 14/12/2009 10:47

What about bamboo?

Weirdly this is the second time that I have linked to this website today - www.wellcultivated.co.uk. They don't have sheets, but you can buy fabric from them - there is a phone number 0115 921 2979 to phone them to see if it's suitable for sheets.

Whoops, posted on wrong thread!

BettyButterknife · 14/12/2009 11:23

Thanks MrsTittleMouse, that could work...

Not sure why I have an aversion, ggirl, I just do! Really don't like the feel of any of those fabrics and would like to be able to give my DS a hug when he's in his dressing gown

Have you got a sewing machine? Dressing gowns are very quick and easy to sew and then you can have any fabric you like!

BettyButterknife · 14/12/2009 11:45

Yes! I have. That's a great idea... Thanks

You're welcome. I'm now imagining Master Butterknife in a silk dressing gown like Noel Coward! or maybe traditional wool?

BettyButterknife · 15/12/2009 12:38

Master Butterknife - I like it

I was thinking a grey marl jersey or perhaps brushed cotton, but now you come to mention it, silk would be rather fetching! As long as it didn't end up looking like a boxer's gown...

How about grey marl jersey lined with silk - luxurious, warm and more Savile Row than boxing ring!

PoppityMerryGentlemen · 15/12/2009 21:12

I made a dressing gown from a light flannel, twas lovely

seeker · 15/12/2009 21:23

I'm just impressed that anyone can get a child to wear a dressing gown!

motherlovebone · 15/12/2009 23:00

turn the heating off!
theyll wear em.

Bonsoir · 16/12/2009 13:46

I have tried to link but can't for some reason.

Look at www.maloup.fr (the site translates to English) at the dressing gown called OSCAR. It's pure cotton and is fully lined in pure cotton and washes beautifully (and is fabulously well made). DD has it and I love it.

MadBadandCoveredinTinsel · 16/12/2009 18:00

That does indeed look gorgeous. But I think many people would balk at paying ?55 for a dressing gown for a two year old, however fabulous the quality. Or am I exceptionally parsimonious?

Bonsoir · 16/12/2009 20:09

Here in Paris they are on sale at -30% at the moment.

It depends how much the child wears a dressing gown - my DD wears hers a lot, in fact wore the previous one out. So definitely worth the money.
