yes I know there are loads out there but I am very specific in my requirements!

must have buttons and these must come down low enough for easy breastfeeding

must be natural fibres, or at a pinch mostly natural fibres

Must be snuggly yet stylish

must be forgiving on a tall, usually-size-10-pear who is almost 3 months post-baby and therefore more like a size 12 (and a not very trim one at that)

colour and price not massively important but no sunshine yellow at £300 thanks.

HELP!!

Hiya
Pretty hard to find exactly what you are describing so i see your problem! Even with all the information you have given its hard to guess your personal style and what you won't like though. had a lil peek at your profile picture and i must say you are stunning (and your children are adorable), i thought that charcoal, bluey greys and classy neutral tones would look lovely so i had a look along those lines. Fortunatly i am both a fashion design student and an insomniac with sleepless time on my hands . Hope some of this might be of use to you;

I do actually have two dresses myself which sound similar to what your after but one is a miss sixty wool dress, and the other a H&M mohair/acrylic mix dress both about 3 or 4 years old, seems to be hard to find ones like these with buttons this season. But had a go.

on Asos.com -

firetrap cable knit wool cardigan, 50% wool about 80quid or fullcircle chunky knit wool blend cardigan you could wear both with leggings as a dress, they are both fairly long and very snug looking with really nice knit details.

*princess tam tam cashmere dress in grey brown and violet, simple but chic with a few buttons and looks really snuggly 70quid

Marksandspencers.com -

Per una front frill knitted dress in charcoal (no buttons but low front), i know its not what you want but i think it would look gorgeous. Slims over the hips, and has a ribbed panel in the middle with a delicate knitted frill down the front perfect to detract from stomach area- its 59.

I'm afraid I don't know that much about clothes which are good for breastfeeding, but i found a website that might give you some more options, babeswithbabies.com theres a lovely cowl neck sweater-type dress on there, and loads of great underwear -which i always think is most important to feel fabulous !

Check out allsaints website as well they have some lovely cotton and wool fine knit dresses, really fashionable and elegant. kade dress is nice.

Hope you find what your looking for, and maybe i was a little bit of help, I'll keep an eye out for anything else. Going to try and get a wink of sleep now as it is nearly 7am and almost light again... yawn.

Hey LTEC

Haven't seen you on here for a while! I've been looking for a similar dress myself and haven't really seen anything I like yet. My dad (who is very well dressed) said he'd seen a nice one in Cos with buttons but I haven't seen it myself. I imagine it was grey (everything he buys me is grey ). I saw one in Zara in a dark navy which was 100% wool but they only had it in a small.

I am in love with my new La Redoute shirt dresses. I got them in all 3 colours and though I usually hate wearing viscose mixes at less than £20 they are so soft and comfy. I've worn little else since they arrived!

So, not much help! I'll keep my eyes open though.

fishie · 14/12/2009 08:25

has the boden henley sold out? that fits the bill.

monkeysmama · 14/12/2009 08:32

I thought of that but seem to think she has it? Or maybe the White Company one?

LetThemEatCake · 14/12/2009 08:43

I had the boden Henley... I've sold it now, as bfing was awkward; the buttons weren't low enough.

Thanks loads for your suggestions never4get, I'll have a proper look through this morning.

Hi mm! thought of you yesterday, was at the horniman buying one of those peacock tree decorations and wondered whether you had one :-)

paddingtonbear1 · 14/12/2009 12:08

It's quite low at the front and v flattering!

fishie · 14/12/2009 12:13

i've just seen a whole thread on this in breastfeeding topic.

LetThemEatCake · 14/12/2009 14:34

ooooh never4get - I like the Tam Tam one - thank you!

what do the rest of you think?

in violet, with choc brown boots and tights? or with slouchy grey suede boots?

OP posts:
traceybath · 14/12/2009 14:46

That is gorgeous.

Sammy74 · 14/12/2009 14:52

That Princess Tam Tam one is lush.

LetThemEatCake · 14/12/2009 15:28

thanks tracey and sammy - might give it a go

Tracey - tell me do, what are you doing to shed your baby weight? and how old is dc now?

OP posts:
traceybath · 14/12/2009 15:32

Well Bea is umm nearly 5 months but I think I was cutting down too much as she was feeding the whole time.

Have eaten more over weekend and she's waking less at night - thank god.

Am just generally eating smallish portions and no snacks - 'tis very very dull.

I need to run but DH working stupid hours and no childcare.

monkeysmama · 14/12/2009 20:57

I like the Tam Tam dress (though I'd go with shark grey!) though I have never bought anything from there.

Worth having a look in Zara if you get a chance. They have a beautiful 100% wool dark green cardi in atm. I wnated it but love my sister so much I bought it for her instead .

Almost all of dd's stocking pressies have come from hornimans (feels so wrong writing it ) I have had a serious bird phobia (really!) so no peacock decorations. I did get silver metal star decorations from Graham & Greene though and thought of your little star when I was hanging them up with my little star.

LetThemEatCake · 14/12/2009 22:16

Thanks mm

tracey I'm so with you on that .. every run I do is like a marathon just in terms of the effort and organisation it takes to actually hit the pavement for 30/40 minutes.

Okay, I've bought the dress in violet .. in size 12 and 14. fingers crossed it's the latter that gets returned ...

I like the Tam Tam dress and think I may have tried one similar a while back. If I remember the sizes are generous - I'm normally a 12 and recall it being too big! So you should be fine with the smaller one

never4getartisticoutlet · 15/12/2009 18:46

Really glad you liked that one LTEC, hope it fits , i think its gorgeous too. But unfortunatly cannot afford any of those dresses on my student budget right now! Maybe in a couple of years your'l be able to buy my knitted dresses online , right now I've got to finnish making highwaisted knitted shorts and a blue silk-chiffon dress by friday...ahhh!
Have a lovely christmas.

tulpe · 15/12/2009 18:51

LTEC, I've just received this Henley dress from Hush in Old Rose today. It is gorgeous and definitely low enough for BFing in.

never4getartisticoutlet · 15/12/2009 18:51

oooh btw think with the violet dress the grey suede boots with charcoal grey/black tights and simple silver jewelery would look amazing. Oh god i want to shop so much!!!!!!!

tulpe · 15/12/2009 18:53

oh and it is worth joining the wait list. My size was sold out last Wednesday morning. By Wednesday evening I had an email from them saying it was back in stock

LukaSweetBabyJesus · 15/12/2009 18:55

Love the tam tam dress, especially in violet. Can't wait to hear how it looks LTEC

LetThemEatCake · 16/12/2009 20:04

OH MY GOD

it arrived today and it is the most perfect dress ever.

the fact I can bf in it is just the icing on the cake

It is soft. It is stylish. It has lovely long sleeves with tight cuffs and is just the right length. It is skimmy and loose all at the same time. The buttons are big, so not fiddly to undo when dc is hungry. The purple is vibrant, jewel-bright and luscious.

I am so happy. Thanks a million never4get and I hope you get your assignment done and that you get top marks

I am off to start another thread on this perfect, perfect dress
