Elegant, warm, interesting top (not sparkly) to wear at Christmas

We are going away for Christmas, and I needs something I could wear with different things (think capsule wardrobe)

I don't want anything specifically Christmassy - I want to be able to wear it afterwards with jeans, for example, but as I will be siting down, I want the top half of me to be the 'best' bit...

Any ideas? I don't have a massive budget...

Thanks in advance...

What size/shape are you and what is the budget?

If you have time, then what kind of colours do you like, pattern or not?

Thanks

Dur! Sorry, I should have thought.

Size 10-12, (in the shops, on paper I should be bigger! ) Ised to be hour glass, but baby belly still rather gets in the way...

I am starting to like patterns - I used to be plain only, so smaller patterns rather than bid bold). Budget ideally no more than £50.

Okay I feel like Kirstie and Phil but this is a bit over-budget but do you like that kind of thing here? If so, I could look for similar but cheaper.

Not quite a top but would look lovely when sitting at Christmas dinner and hten quite versatile for after.

Quite elegant as long as it wasn't too shiny/polyester looking in real life

Im looking at long sleeves as you said warm, but the other option is a short-sleeved/sleeveless top with a shrug or cardigan/bolero thing over the top?

What about plain cashmere top, V-neck (good for hourglass I think)in black or red and a selection of different accessories to ring the changes ie blingy big necklaces or those 'collar' necklaces or soft wraps/stoles or fancy earrings etc. Be easier to pack too. Tesco and Primark have lots of cheap accessories at the moment.

Oooh Norkily, I love those... not sure about 3/4 sleeves, but loved the neckline on the third - what would you wear under it? Loads of granny thermals, then bare neck?

Bob - thanks, I wear a lot of v-neck jumpers (and cardis) with shirts for work, so am looking for something a little different. Should definitely think about earingd, though - always forget

thanks

Glad you like them.

The bardot neck is a bit tricky to wear something under, would try something thermally and maybe long or 3/4 sleeve to wear under but you'd have to make sure it didn't show on the shoulders.

Will try to find similar if you like that neckline...

gorgeousgirl · 11/12/2009 17:23

Yes I do like that neckline - interesting without being fussy. If it had long sleeves, it would be ideal

Neckline not quite the same but should be warm
