How to prevent static/clingy dress

muminthemiddle · 03/12/2009 22:03

I am hoping to wear a black satin dress very soon but think I might need tights on as well.
Does anyone know a way of stopping my dress clinging to the tights.

It is satin but not lined and made from polyester.
Please don't suggest fake tan and bare legs as I really need to be warmer than that.

Thank you!

Rub a moisturiser generously over your hands and then rub it over your tights above the level where the hem of the dress comes down to.
I sometimes do this for work , but only with dresses/ skirts that have a polyesterish lining... not sure how it would work with satin.. I don't want to ruin your dress

wear a slip

someone on here the other day suggested spraying hairspray on your tights before you put your dress on

Tumble drier sheet, (like bounce) rubbed over your tights stops static apparently

Spraying hairspray on your tights will definitely stop cling

Dilute some fabric softener in some water and spray onto dress. I have heard Fabreeze works too but haven't tried that.

Oh some good ideas.

Think I will try the fabric softener first and then move onto the hairsray if needed, possibly followed by the moisturiser on my legs.

Thank you wise mumsnetters.
