it arrived today and for someone who cant usually wear a dress very well it looks really nice on me - im a pear shaped size 12...dont own another dress so this is a first!

this one

wondered what others thought of it though. does it look too much like a nightie?

it's nice.

ChrisMissWooWoo · 03/12/2009 17:20

very foxy

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 03/12/2009 18:13

i really quite like it, but its a bit gappy at the back, ill need fake tan.

its really flattering, (though from the side looks a bit like a maternity dress...still at least ill be able to eat in it!) cos its an empire line - is that what they call it? its tightest point is just under the bust line.

just want to be brave enough to wear it! ive got a few xmas meals out over next few weeks...i want to wear it but i bet i end up in trousers and tops...im worried ill feel self conscious about my arms/back.

im always doing this...i buy things then darn't wear em!

Gorgeous dresss (and bargainous!).

Don't put fake tan on - natural skin colour is much more attractive. Just exfoliate like crazy and moisturise like mad every day for the next month and your skin will be baby soft and dewy...

Themasterandmargaritas · 03/12/2009 18:22

WEar it Vicar, wear it! It's lovely. Have you got ample norkage? And don't do fake tan, stay as you are?

And shoes?

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 03/12/2009 18:59

ive got very ample norkage these days! the 12 fit really nicely but its gappier at the back than it shows on the model...(on the video thingy you can click) so am a bit self conscious of showing my back. (ive also sent for the size 14 but im betting it will be too big round the top but i might just try it and see)

its shorter than id normally wear- just above the knee but the legs are ok...think i might wear sheer tights anyway.

shoes - ive got a choice!

  1. peep toe platforms with an ankle strap (but no good with tights)

  2. patent leather platforms

or 3) satin cut out pointed toe stiletto with a jewel thingy on the front - they seemed to look the nicest with the dress, and made my legs look longer and leaner. (either that or the running is paying off!)

Oh yes pointy stilettos with a pretty dress like that, definitely. Now don't chicken out will you?

Tortington · 03/12/2009 19:41

looks like a nightie

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 03/12/2009 20:13

i thought that custardo tbh. but it definitely does something for my figure (well - if you look from the front it does anyway!)

muminthemiddle · 03/12/2009 21:50

It looks very nice.

SofaQueen · 03/12/2009 21:53

I think it's lovely, and definitely would suit a pear shaped figure. Don't do a fake tan, and wear it stockingless with the peeptoes (just wear a long coat on top) - would be very sexy.

BaronessBarbaraKingstanding · 03/12/2009 21:55

V nice indeed.

moondog · 03/12/2009 22:20

I like it.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 03/12/2009 22:23

well i think im gonna try the 14 on and see if its any less gaping at the back, though i suspect it will be too big up top.

if not i'll keep the 12 and exfoliate like mad. am going to try and be brave and wear it next friday for the works meal.

id love to wear it and feel feminine! for once!

OP posts:
Clure · 03/12/2009 22:29

yes, its a lovely dress. Pointy shoes will look good. you sound like you are really happy with it and you should absolutley go for it

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 03/12/2009 23:33

im happy with it from the front! the back is bothering me ever so slightly but after a few glasses of xmas cheer i hope it will bother me no more!

thats if i just dont chicken out! DH said he liked it and my DD is really honest with me about clothes and she said she liked it on me. (but she has also mentioned that the back doesnt gape as much in the internet piccies!)im wondering if it would tie up a bit tighter - the back only fastens with a tie at the nape of the neck...

ill let you know if i brave it on the night!

OP posts:
VicarInaTinselTuTu · 06/12/2009 17:27

well i tried the 14 and its too big - so it the 12 (am secretly very chuffed! lol)

OP posts:
purplepeony · 06/12/2009 17:41

it is nice but she's showing a lot of cleavage- does it gape on you like that or do you fill it?

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 06/12/2009 23:23

well i definitely fill it but it is a bit revealing in the old norks dept! but that doesnt bother me too much i have to say - they are well strapped in! its fair to say i am a bit bustier than the lovely (thin) model. i have decided i am going to wear it and be done...mainly cos every thing else i ordered looks bloody awful on me!

if i am feeling brave i may upload a piccy. the do is friday, so ill get DH to take a pic. (just please dont point and laugh!)
