To Botox or not to Botox - that is the question

When my kids called me an 'old lady with wrinkles' and my face looked a decade older than me, I tried Botox. I'm the last person you'd expect to do it. And, I've noticed that a lot of people around me are doing the same. But it's a taboo subject, nobody really talks about. I've started a blog on the subject. Please let me know what you think.

Would you thnk about it? And if you did, would you tell your friends and family?

Nooo, Nooo!, It's a slippery slope, that is.

I will grow old disgracefully! (currently 41)

Can you do a direct link to the blog?
Personally, I'd go for it but goto someone who knows what they are doing- not any old Tom, Dick or Harry.
In London, they say Tracy Mountford is good and also Dr Sebagh who supposedly does Carol Vorderman and other celebs.
You might not need Botox- you might need other kinds of fillers such as Restylane.
I think the danger is if you go too far and look uch younger/forzen than you should for your age.

Sorry Purplepeony, would you mind cutting and pasting it into your browser:

I can't make it live, and would love to know what you think. Cheers.

I have had a read of it.

It's fine...what kind of comments do you want?
I don't think you should be ashamed of it- it's like having your hair done teeth whitened etc etc.

It's interesting and I would like to read more.

Vicarina · 04/12/2009 09:39

Thanks Hinny Pet. You've given me the impetus to do some more.

More writing or more botox ...

Cortina · 04/12/2009 14:22

Go for it. If it all goes pear shaped it will wear off in 3 months or so.

You are exactly write, nearly everyone I know over 40 is doing it. No one admits it, they pretend it's thread veins or similar if anyone spots them entering a clinic

It's costly but many do it once a year.

Some do filler too but that's even more of a taboo . It's absolutely brilliant too, very subtle if done well.

Just checking that my name change was working because I have friends and family (on the boards)that are very opposed to any kind of cosmetic prcedures.

I have Botox every 5 months and I swear by it. It is great if administered by someone who really knows their stuff if not you (at best) will look peculiar. You need a good doctor to do it and you really need ot see examples of their work.

I do not look frozen at all, I look relaxed and not line free. I won't have my crows feet done even though it means some Botox is wasted. I want a smoothish forehead and no furrow lines in between my brows.

You have to make sure that you (post injection) really try to frown and wriggle your eyebrows this is crucial to spread the stuff evenly.

Even a few weeks after the injections I am able to frown and wriggle my eyebrows just not as much as before. I also don't get headaches anymore!

My dermatologist is worth her weight in gold, she is amazing! I am wondering about fillers too but maybe I will wait 5 or 6 years.
