is this nice?

OP posts:
TerryWogansCockandBaubles · 03/12/2009 11:05

I dont like it sorry, it even makes the model look frumpy

Bleenherbe · 03/12/2009 11:05

No:
cowl neck
Shape like sack
"ditsy" print

MadreInglese · 03/12/2009 11:05

Yes if you're tall and slim with no norkage or hips, otherwise it has sack of spuds potential I think

WouldYouCouldYouWithAGoat · 03/12/2009 11:06

i think it looks nice. would have to try on.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/12/2009 11:07

Too sacky

www.pretaportobello.com/shop/dresses.aspx

This is the place to buy dresses!

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 03/12/2009 11:10

this one then?

OP posts:
MadreInglese · 03/12/2009 11:15

Hmm better, but again IMO you would have to be slim and hip-less

MadreInglese · 03/12/2009 11:15

What are you looking for?

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 03/12/2009 13:03

a long sleeved short dress to wear with tights or leggings. Can be a sweater dress but not too chunky.

OP posts:
BonjourIvressedeNoel · 03/12/2009 13:03

no black though.

OP posts:
NorkilyChallenged · 03/12/2009 13:28

Oh I'm in a minority as I like that first one actually. I like the second one less.

I can imagine the first one might end up looking a bit maternity-ish though.

Hard to find non-black this year, unless you're really interested in sequins . Will watch this thread with interest.

Tortington · 03/12/2009 13:30

op - that dress is seriously horrid. looks like you are about to give up electricity and use a horse and cart

Thingiebob · 03/12/2009 13:51

Have judged and found it wanting.

pagwatch · 03/12/2009 13:55

I can't judge. I am too busy being bothered by the whole, 'grown woman wearing leggings under proper dress' thing.
Can not get my head around that...

[I know its just me emoticon]

differentID · 03/12/2009 13:55

oh no- that is tragic, sorry.

pagwatch · 03/12/2009 14:00

this is nice for day but may be too long...

MadreInglese · 03/12/2009 14:07

what about these?

not very long sleeves

not totally black

not sure if grey or black

really tricky actually, there are loads with short sleeves and loads of black ones!

Have you tried H&M? I got a lovely dark green jumper dress from there, can't see anything on their website though

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 03/12/2009 19:31

The Day Birger one is lovely, but too expensive...needs o be £60 tops. Will look out for it in the sale though. Found this on the Bay of E, looks promising - I love purple.

Can't do fitted with buttons at the top as have massive norkage. Have ordered the two M & S ones and will let you know if they are as awful as you think . Going to look at the white stuff website tonight.

btw, short sleeves could work as I could wear a thin long sleeved top underneath.

Cheers for all the help so far.

ShowOfHands · 03/12/2009 19:36

Oh bloody leggings on a grown up who isn't on a horse. What the hell is that all about then?

Pag and I against the world I think.

MarthaFarquhar · 03/12/2009 19:46

Primark. Fine gauge knitted empire line dresses. slight bell sleeve. teal or navy. £13. bob's yer uncle.

AnalysisParalysis · 03/12/2009 19:48

now that Toast one is just gorgeous! Pity it's a 14 though... well- at least we won't be trying to outbid each other
I like the DBM one too... but worry about that copper detailing- bit too kitschy for me I think, not sure... I usually do completely plain... even stripes are pushing the boat out!

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 03/12/2009 19:50

The primark ones sound lovely, will have to go look on Saturday to see if we have them in our store.

OP posts:
NorkilyChallenged · 03/12/2009 20:43

Could have a search for you, what kind of thing do you generally like? Plain, going by the Toast one but the M&S ones were patterned.... Casual? Wool like the ones you linked to?

Too dressy?

20% off everything at Debenhams right now and they have a lot, but you'll have to give some more info on what you're after for me to whittle it down to some options for you

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 03/12/2009 20:52

More tunic like than wrapped, wraps don't seem to suit me. Hige of Norks, a bit apply but slimmer than usual at the moment, tall with legs best feature, hence wanting the dress quite short

OP posts:
NorkilyChallenged · 03/12/2009 21:05

Right, will get hunting for you!
