I am 35. I have purchased some 'wet look' leggings to wear under a dress. It will be ok won't it?

this is the dress

The dress isn't as clingy in RL, looks a bit 1980's in that photo. But I am going to brave it with black wet look leggings and shoe boots / bandals (which I still need to buy).

It's all from Dotty P's, so in theory it should be ok .

Am I mad?

NO NO NO!!! You MUST wear Bunny's Bandals

Meglet · 02/12/2009 22:48

I am in turmoil. My heart says Lady Ga Ga. My head says worn out lone parent trying to be trendy .

esher I might take the Dotty P weggings back and get dirt cheap Primark ones instead then, I'll only wear them the once anyway. Not much call for them at toddler group or in the office.

I say go for it! I love the dress & the shoes are fab.
Personally, wouldn't wear wet-look leggings but that's because of my dumpy legs.
You're tall & slim though,so I give the thumbs up!

HerBeatitude · 02/12/2009 22:59

LOLOL no, I'm sorry, nothing wrong with wet look leggings, but all together, with that dress and those shoes and you will look like a ho.

Regrettable, but true. Don't do it, just take one item out of the ensemble and you will de-ho it but still be sexy.

eshermummy · 02/12/2009 23:26

yeah, go cheap on the weggings - oasis had some on the sale rails half price for £10 a few weeks ago.

I wear mine to toddler group - actually very practical, virtually wipe clean. I think of them as a variation on coloured tights only more slimming . With flat biker boots and a top that covers your bum they are totally wearable as everyday wear imo.

HuwEdwards · 02/12/2009 23:31

You see, we're all sitting here at:-

  1. 5'
  2. Mildly overweight
  3. Usually conservatively dressed
  4. Needing a good haircut/colour
  5. Having not been out for YEARS!

thinking, ''kin 'ell what's she thinking?'

You follow your instincts. You appear to have reasonably normal self-esteem and you think you look good, so GO FOR IT

lou33 · 03/12/2009 00:25

mine were a fiver in primark

i'm 5ft 7, they are just about long enough, but for a fiver they were worth getting to try out

with a longer length top or dress they look ok , as long as not too shiny

i wear mine with jumper dresses and knee high heeled boots over them

or possibly a shoe boot style for day

for evening i'd wear a dress and those leggings with some kind of high heeled court shoe

it boils down to confidence anyway

if you have the attitude to carry it off, you will

FreeGeorgeJackson · 03/12/2009 08:46

oh i loev the dress and the sound of the whole hting
i never consider camel toe in leggins adn oyu never see my vaginyar

fishie · 03/12/2009 11:06

go meglet wear weggings. don't see why you can't wear them again, styled as lou does. a floppy jumper would dress them down nicely. i'd have them if i didn't look dread in black.

colditz · 03/12/2009 11:08

no it will not. Put the revolting things in the bin. They look like angling accessories.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 03/12/2009 11:14

No they are way too 'sugarbabes'

Some cable tights would look good and make it less 'dressy/try hard

mazzystartled · 03/12/2009 13:23

i do feel a bit fundamentally oppposed to te wet leggings on the basis of them being oinly really suited to heavy rock stagewear, but concede they could look good on lou and meglet in a dressed down nonchalant type of way

but with the dress it will look more liz macdonald than lady gaga (and let's think which one of those two icons of style is more likely to shop at dotty ps?)

merryberry · 03/12/2009 13:36

while saying that everyone attempting to pull off the look is no doubt gorgeous, i also have to let you know that i always think 'thrush' when i see wet look legings. and 'heat rash' when i see leather trousers.

traceybath · 03/12/2009 14:04

sounds cool to me and makes a change from jeans and a nice top

lou33 · 03/12/2009 14:19

i may take a pic of me in them later and put on my profile

Pineapplechunks · 03/12/2009 14:25

If you are slim enough then you will look fab.

My sister is 34 and owns a pair of wet look leggings and would wear them with that dress or something similar and some killer heels and ALWAYS looks ravishing.

She is also a size 8 and 5'7.

Meglet · 03/12/2009 14:28

I tried to take a pic of mine last night but you couldn't see them very well.

Last night I re-discovered some ankle boots from last xmas that seem to work with my outfit. I think bandals would make me look like an old, reject sugarbabe. And I couldn't wear socks with bandals.

mazzystartled · 03/12/2009 17:30

lou33 · 03/12/2009 17:42

thank you

FreeGeorgeJackson · 03/12/2009 17:44

FreeGeorgeJackson · 03/12/2009 17:45

look great lou
lol at second pose

NancyDrewRocks · 03/12/2009 17:47

The dress is fab but will look so much better with opaque tights and shoe boots.

Wet look leggings will make it look like you're trying to do some weirdy matchy thing with your legs and the sequins on the shoulders - very wrong
