Has anyone seen any nice tunics for wearing in the day?

I have belatedly realised that the Toast needlecord tunic is the answer to all my wardrobe problems. But it's sold out in all but a few sizes.

Can anyone suggest something a bit similar. Doesn't have to be needlecord, but I really like the idea of an daywear/utilitarian looking tunic to wear with skinny jens and big boots.

It doesn't have to be plain - I absolutely love this other Toast tunic but at £145 I think I'll have to wait and see what it is in the sales.

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions!

white stuff have some nice tunics/dresses, what about this? i've tried it on in the shop, it's short enough to be a tunic. or saltwater. or wrap?

inveteratenamechanger · 29/11/2009 18:14

Ooh luckykate I love that white stuff dress. May have to order it and see what it's like on.

I do like the wrap stuff - hadn't seen it before. They don't seem to have any heavy-ish tunics though.

Some of the saltwater dresses are fab too. I love this one although it's not really one for wearing with jeans!

Lovely links - thanks!

The White Stuff dress is gorgeous and lined so feels lovely - it has quite a roomy cut though and does make me look a little pregnant though and is SO much better belted.

inveteratenamechanger · 29/11/2009 18:59

Yes, it looks quite roomy in the photos - I am an apple though, so that's a plus point!

What sort of coat do you wear with a tunic?

FreeGeorgeJackson · 29/11/2009 19:03

the white stuff one was vile

inveteratenamechanger · 29/11/2009 19:07

llareggub - I usually wear a leather jacket which is shorter than the tunic. Not ideal, but it is a lovely jacket and I think I just about get away with it.

I did wear a tunic-length coat today, which was probably better, but it's an awfully scruffy H&M one which has seen better days.

FreeGeorgeJackson - what is nasty about the WS one? Too billowy at the front?

the white stuff one is lovely fabric, it's lined too, but shape wise, it's one you really need to try on, i did like it, but the branch near me only had either a 14, which was huge (i'm a 12), and an 8, which i couldn't get on. the reviews on their website say it comes up large so best to size down. they did a skirt in the same fabric which i got instead of the dress.

the saltwater one on the left is very 'toast', knitted though not cord. and as much as i hate to suggest it, but [[http://www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Tunics/WK525/Womens-Cashmere-Tunic.html boden have some, this one is only in stock in red now, but their sale starts, i think, on friday.

white stuff are having a discount day on thursday, 20% off online if you type in 'clue' at the checkout.

FreeGeorgeJackson · 29/11/2009 20:33

I have just bought this which looks good with skinny jeans and boots. Apparently not good with big boobs tho.

inveteratenamechanger · 29/11/2009 21:21

That is nice, Libra. Big boobs not a problem for me.

Thanks for the links, lucykate - saltwater have some nice stuff, don't they?

I read FreeGeorgeJackson's comment as 'Ikea pregnancy top' which has a certain aptness.
