Me and dh are going on romantic night to the Hotel we got married at on Friday.
Really looking forward to it as we don't get out much due to lack of a babysitter.

So I would like to wear a dress, but my dilema is I am very very blue pale skinned. So would need to wear tights.

No idea what style dress, would go well with tights. Also what colour tight?

Don't feel comfortable in thin straps. Feel quite broad(don't really like showing top of my arms)

Dh says I always 'do' Black,so would be good to try some colour.
Also Have Red hair. (xxl red passion)
so not sure what colour works with that.
Quite drawn to Blue atm though.
Thanks for any advice.

I have managed a child free morning tomorow to go and look for something, but thought I would seek help before I traipse(sp?) round shopping centre and come home with nothing.Or something I end up taking back.

Forgot to say I am about 5'8 size 10/12,and 32f
but bit wobbly/jelly like on arms and tum atm.

I like this Coast Dress

Any strong shade of blue dress would be gorgeous with your colouring, I would have thought.

Do you have the skin of a red-haired person? If so, forest greeny colours can be nice.

overweightoptimist · 29/11/2009 15:13

This Reiss dress might be worth a try on, it has draping over the tummy.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/11/2009 15:21

Love the colour of that Coast Dress, but hate my upper arm and wouldn't feel confident in it.
Stangley I feel ok in strapless, but not capped sleeves or thin strap.

I love Green too. I am very very pale almost Blue looking which is why I can not go bare leg. It was suggested I wear the tanned tight, but I thought that could look worse.
Tanned legs and white upper half.

Also the thing with tights,I hate the feel round the middle. Would also be restricted to type of dress if tights and underwear lines are visible.

Could do stocking hold ups I suppose.
Will be sat down eating so not walking from pub to pub so no risk of falling down.

I cannot see the Reiss link.

I am also a size 10 and a 32FF with a mummy tummy, but only 5'5''

I tried on this dress in bravissimo. It was surprisingly flattering on the tummy as the layers disguised my flab

I would have bought it but the straps were too wide for me as i have very narrow shoulders. So it might be good for you.

You could wear it with opaques or fishnets

Amandoh · 29/11/2009 16:20

Don't feel you have to wear tights. You're not going until Friday so you've got enough time to bring a little "faux" colour to your skin.

Anyway, on to the dresses...

As you're happy to go sleeveless what do you think of this Ted Baker dress?

This New Look dress is just loosely fitted so would skim your tummy and you wouldn't have to worry about the tops of tights showing. Also, I don't know what your budget is but £25.00 is amazing value. It looks far more expensive.

I love this All Saints dress. Sadly the only sizes left online are sizes 6 and 8 but if you like it and there's a store local to you then you could pop in/ring up and ask if there's one in your size.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/11/2009 16:47

Thankyou all for your suggestions. All gorgeous. Will see if I can find them all to try.
At least I know what kind of style to look for tomorow and colour too, instead of wondering aimlessly as I often do.

Re faking colour,I am very bad at this.

I was thinking of maybe going for an allover st tropez, but don't have energy the time.
dh on nights all this coming week. So noone to watch dcs in day as he in bed.

Is the Ambre solair really no streak.
They alwys do with my probably poor application.
I am only brave enough to tackle doing the legs.

OP posts:
Amandoh · 29/11/2009 17:36

The Ambre Solair one is brilliant. Use the one for lighter skin then you can build up the colour gradually over a few days and any mistakes won't be noticeable as if you miss a bit one day you'll get it the next.

Stand on a towel! My white bedroom carpet has a very fetching brown patch in front of the dressing table that won't come out. Hold the can at least 12 inches away from the area you're spraying and keep it moving. You probably won't see any real difference in colour after the first application but you should have a very light natural looking colour after about three.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/11/2009 17:40

lol
Do you do all body or just legs?
Could stand in bath and do it.

Clure · 29/11/2009 18:03

this is lovely in purple and comes in other colours with opaques and very high heels

Clure · 29/11/2009 18:04

I also love this which you could wear with black opaques and heels

Bonsoir · 29/11/2009 18:13

First of all - you do not have to expose a lot of bare flesh to look glamorous and sexy. So forget about bare shoulders, bare legs etc in late November when you are a pale skinned red head - you do not need to go there to look beautiful (and going there will not do you any favours at all).

You are lovely and tall and slim, so how about a dress that covers you up, with tights and knee-high boots? You will be tall and imposing with your lovely red hair.

What's your budget?

Bonsoir · 29/11/2009 18:17

Love this

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/11/2009 18:18

Thanks Bonsoir, was thinking that too.

We are checking into the hotel, getting dressed then going down to eat. So don't have to be too warm as won't be going out. iykwim. Hotel also has open fires so very warm.
Not a huge budget as would be a shame to spend a lot when mainly sat down all night.
Does that make sense?
Obviously I still want to look good, but more importantly I need to feel comfortable especially after eating.
It is fine dining so not massive portions but still..
Thanks for the compliments. I do feel rather chunky atm, af is here too which doesn't help, but will have gone for friday.
I hope.
Am I asking for the impossible. Is it obvious I don't get out much.

Lovely young and fun.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/11/2009 18:29

I think the Kew dress would look fab with boots, but I think too casual.
Second one.Not sure, could imagine it looking great and someone else, but not me.

OP posts:
Bonsoir · 29/11/2009 18:35

Kew dress can be dressed up - think lovely tights and silver boots?

cornsilkwearscorsets · 29/11/2009 18:41

I'd like some silver boots - have you seen any Bonsoir?

Bonsoir · 29/11/2009 18:43

There were lovely metallic boots around last year - both for adults and children - DD had some fab silver leather ones and I hankered after some fab gold leather ones in BA&SH. But this year? Huh!

DD and I have silver Hunters, but that isn't what the OP is after.

Anyone else?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 29/11/2009 19:00

lol I live in Hunters and jods atm that is why I want to feel nice and clean.
Silver leather sound fab.

I tried some on somewhere last year and can't remember. Wish I had bought them now.
