Uber cool or total no no?!! Considering buying my DS a pair (he loves wearing mine around the house). Love them on girls but not sure on boys. What do you reckon?

Love them on girls and have 4 pairs of genuine ones myself. I think boys however, look like twats. Sorry

BikiniBottom · 27/11/2009 22:56

My 5-year-old ds begged for a pair and I only hesitated as I did not want to spend any more money. But I bought him them anyway, not that I spoil him or anything.

So I say why not! But then I am really not fussed about whether something is perceived as girly or boyish. Really who cares.

Hulababy · 27/11/2009 22:57

Have never seen a boy wearing them. They do seem a girl thing TBH.

Maybe for slippers at home (well Igg style)?

Hulababy · 27/11/2009 22:58

However if you do go for it - look at Emus rather than Uggs. Amazon have some deals on. Just got DD a pair of Emus and they have come amnd are excellent quality and she loves them.

Cheappinkfizz · 27/11/2009 23:34

I have 2 friends with boys that wear them under jeans and the look fine, very cosy. One is 2 the other is 5. if they are under trousers they look fine, it's not like you would tuck them in or wear them with leggings!

cheesesarnie · 27/11/2009 23:50

yep but i wouldnt pay for real uggs for a 5 year old male or female.but cheaper version yes!

cheesesarnie · 27/11/2009 23:52

or how about gumbies?

Danthe4th · 27/11/2009 23:57

My 2 boys age 4 and 7 have a pair of army combat emu uggs I bought last year £15 each and they love them, they don't live in them as they would ruin them but they wear them plenty but under their jeans. I've also just bought a second hand pair of Birch ugg boots for £30 on ebay and they are amazing and such a bargain. If bought them again I would buy the very short boots as they look better on boys and in chocolate or black.

Cheappinkfizz · 27/11/2009 23:58

agree cheesesarnie, one set were proper uggs, but they were a gift from a friend in oz and the others are cheap fake, but still sheepskin.

real uggs bought here are a rip off!

Danthe4th · 27/11/2009 23:59

Gumbies are great and good value, I fancy a pair of the ewe gumbies myself.

traceybath · 28/11/2009 07:47

ds2 has gumbies and ds1 whose 5 has fake uggs as slippers.

Our house is greezing so cosy slippers essential. They're both having celtic sheepskin slippers for xmas.

I would think uggs for a boy for outdoor use wouldn't be very sensible as they'd get trashed.

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 28/11/2009 07:49

He is FIVE who cares if it's a total no-no or uber-cool, it's not illegal, it's not immoral and they would keep him warm. FIVE!

seeker · 28/11/2009 07:50

I would worry about how good they are for the feet. Children tend to shuffle in them, and that can't be good, can it? Also, wouldn't they restrict them running about and playing?

DanDruff · 28/11/2009 08:52

i dont like them
or men in them

noddyholder · 28/11/2009 09:11

sweet My ds is 15 now and had a pair of australian sheepskin ones as a toddler and they were lovely

CocoLP · 28/11/2009 09:15

Isaw a yong boy in them yesterday and he looked much better than his mum who had tracksuit bottoms tucked into them. It looked like her trousers were full of air.

Ronaldinhio · 28/11/2009 09:17

don't care if it's for a boy or girl
horrible
ughhh

FaithinQuestion · 28/11/2009 11:45

I know I always say this when an Ugg post comes along, but I DO like to support English (Cornish) business and this company orginally made the UGG boots which were then sold off to the Decker company...the kids boots are cheaper
and my 2 yr old boy loves his, look at the website read the history, you cannot buy better quality they are made in Cornwall not bl@@dy China!
Loads of colours!!
www.celtic-sheepskin.co.uk/kids/kids-sheepskin-boots/sheepskin-mini-celt-boots/
For the Adult boots they will even resole them if they wear out! Hows that for value?

VinegarTits · 28/11/2009 11:47

i think they look cool on little boys

VerityBrulee · 28/11/2009 12:09

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a five year old boy wearing whatever he likes.

I HATE this attitude that x or y are to girly for boys to wear - open your minds

My 2 ds had uggs when they were younger, we got them when living in Oz. Nobody ever said they were girls boots, and if they did they would have had an earful from me!

Rant over

chattermouse · 28/11/2009 12:47

I say let the little chap wear what he wants. Am sure he will look cute in them.

kateecass · 28/11/2009 14:26

My 3.5 year DS is on his 2nd pair of kiwi sheepskin boots. They were fab when he was little, they go on so easily. Now he is older they are really only worn as slippers (we have freezing kitchen floor) but he has worn them out a handful of times when we've been in a hurry and each time someone has commented on how nice they are.
Extra bonus is that DD can wear them when she fits them as they are neutral.

wanttogoshopping · 28/11/2009 14:37

Yeah go for it. They are cute and keep their feet toasty warm in this chilly weather! Go for a brown or something naturally! x

allaboutme · 28/11/2009 15:01

My 4 yr old has a brown pair (his 3rd pair! he has had them for 3 winters in a row) and also my 21 month old has grey ones. They are not uggs but the copies from Next so cheap as chips. So so cosy and comfy and they look v cool imo.
