The lovely fashion expert types over at the DM have been brainstorming and have put together some looks that'll make life easier (Haha!) for working mothers.

It'll mean taking two bags with you everyday but that's o.k because you'll need them!

One of them will have to house the extra trench coat or chunky knit. The denim capris and little jumper. The shoes, as obviously you can't wear flats to work and a change of jewellery.

They don't say where you're supposed to get changed though. In your car perhaps? Or on the platform while you wait for the train?

Enjoy.

Obviously is a totally ridiculous premise. As if you can't wear the same clothes to drop off/pick up your kids before/after work - and anyway, imo pretty much all of the 'school-run' outfits featured are smart enough for all but the most conservative of workplaces these days.

Having said all that though, I do rather like the outfits featured . Those jigsaw trousers in the first pics and some of the knitwear......

What a load of old cock

Ronaldinhio · 26/11/2009 22:27

amandoh I haven't said this in a while but I love you

(secretly like the jaegar jacket also)

paddingtonbear1 · 26/11/2009 22:32

I cycle to work, so do the school run in my bike clothes! I do have a spare pair of trousers/top in my office though. Have to change in the loo at work!

Amandoh · 26/11/2009 22:36

You don't say if you change your jewellery too Paddingtonbear? No slacking now.

Glue, paint, glitter, snot.
say no more!

spicemonster · 26/11/2009 22:51

I wear stuff like that 1st school run outfit to work. Is that why I'm not yet mistress of the universe?

VinegarTits · 26/11/2009 22:52

why do you need to change your clothes for the school run?

I dont getit

thegrammerpolicesic · 26/11/2009 22:55

What an absurd article. Why couldn't you wear the work outfits on the school run. Very, very odd.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 26/11/2009 22:55

What an utterly ridiculous idea. I'd be happy enough to manage the waking up, dressing, packed lunches, in time for school, in time for the train hassle. Why would I bloody care about changing outfits? Why should I disguise the fact that I work? How realistic is it to do the school run in high heels? If you can do that (running after the kids etc) then you can walk the extra mile in them during the day at work too.

ZacharyQuack · 27/11/2009 04:35

On your way to work, simply take off the layers, add some court shoes and a chic cardigan and you're set for any business meeting."

Where? In a phone booth, like Superman?

chattermouse · 27/11/2009 10:41

Only the vacuous will buy into this!

TheProvincialLady · 27/11/2009 10:46

I'm too outraged at the idea that I am a lesser mortal than Victoria fecking Beckham to read any further.

soopermum1 · 27/11/2009 10:48

I cycle to work in my work clothes. They can take me as they find me, although in the summer I do wear leggings, wear layers that I can take off and put on, and shove them all on the basket on my bike.

Thank goodness

a) I don't do the school run any more
b) I work from home

Amandoh · 27/11/2009 11:13

You've got to wonder why someone would want to disguise the fact that they were off to work after dropping their children at school.

Be on your guard. If you see anyone wearing any of the suggested school run clothes then it's your public duty to ring the National Benefit Fraud Hotline.

Cristina, I used to ride 16 miles each way to work before DS was born and I had to get back for nursery. I used to do it in the full lycrea and goretx kit, but check out minx-girl.com for more fashionale cycling gear, as well as useful, war, waterproof stuff.
