this is really abotu wedding hats but has some very useful advice

if it is warm winter hats you are having trouble with then avoid the trad knitted beanie and go to Accessorize to try on trilbies and baker-boy style caps - you probably need something with a brim

I think this is a very bad year for hats. Not wedding or posh ones, but just generally. They are all beanie beret type things, which make me look like a twat. And those Baker Boy ones make me look Casey Jones.

I look daft in most hats but I love them so have kept looking. Accessorise is a good place to try lots of styles and I would say try on things even if you think they won't suit, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Take a friend and make an activity out of it. Any item of clothing looks better on you if you're enjoying yourself.

I've just seen a fantastic 1930's felt hat in Hobbs which has an uneven brim that suits my head, face and hair. Unfortunately the £80 price tag doesn't suit my purse

M&S have some lovely cloche hats, which can be very flattering

I have this one, but I took off the terrible shiney bow and replaced it with a navy velvet flower brooch.

Also Urban Outfitters have some lovley hats, but are a bit more expensive.
