Help me - I'm having 10 inches cut off my hair at lunchtime today and NEED a style now!

I'm going from very long to pretty short, losing a minimum 10 inches. Probably all I'll have left to work with is a shortish layered bob. I really want to take a nice pic in with me to the salon, but most pics I find tend to be a bit 'out there', and not something you'd wear in real life. Unless you only have one functioning eye and don't mind the other being fully obscured by your 'do'.

I'd love something versatile that can go from a bit funky / messy / choppy, (e.g. Meg Ryan in the 90's) to elegant and classic with a flick of the tongs (I'm thinking 40's retro wavy chic).

Ha.

Obviously I'll end up with some heinous 70's shag or a tragic mumcut whatever I ask for, but still, if you have any links to images I'd be very grateful.

although you must be able to make marvellous donations so perhaps you will have to recultivate. my stringy little curls would not do much for anyone unless there is a merkin needed.

oh, you are all toooo lovely. My two year old commented "like your hair, mummy" followed by "looks funny!" followed by "needs a brush. Me do it." And off she toddled, returning with a hairbrush, and proceeded to "make it better". Atta girl.

I went from longer than yours was to just past shoulder length (and cut into a style!)and I'm so glad I made the change. Needs a good cut again now, though!
