Woo-Hoo! I finally get the dress!

This dress that I tried on one day on a whim and fell in love with it.

I could never afford the price so looked on ebay and saw the same dress but in sizes 12 and 14 for £45. I contacted the woman and she said she can get me one in a size 8!!!

The only difference is that it will be a dark chocolate brown, which will probably suit me better.

Dh has agreed to buy it for me as an early Christmas present!!!!!!!!!

(ok, he is moaning about paying £45 for a dress which puts a bit of a dampner on it so I'm just going to ignore him)

Lovely.
45 quid is a bargain.

aGalChangedHerName · 24/11/2009 14:19

Someone posted that dress yesterday on a thread? Asked everyone to talk her out of buying it IIRC.

It's lovely btw!!

Lizzylou · 24/11/2009 14:21

Gorgeous dress, Choc brown sounds nicer than black too.

Lucky you

BaronessBarbaraKingstanding · 24/11/2009 14:22

How lovwly!

I saw your thread and thought it's such shame she can't have that dress, and now you can. Hurrah!

FimboFortunaFeet · 24/11/2009 14:23

You are a red head from memory Rhubarb? The dress in chocolate will be stunning on you.

VerityBrulee · 24/11/2009 14:29

So pleased you got it

Rhubarb · 24/11/2009 14:30

aGal.. that was me!

It's so rare I get a dress that fits me. I haven't bought myself anything new for ages, I usually make do or buy something ill-fitting from ebay. I spend money on the kids rather than myself. When I tried this on I could have sobbed at how it made me look.

I'm so please dh has agreed to buy it for me. Some men have no understanding of how special it makes you feel to have at least one nice, fitted, new thing in your wardrobe. It's much better than getting his usual presents of a meat cleaver, calculator and ornamental cabbage.

I'm so glad - I walked by monsoon today and thought of your dress.

And well - an ornamental cabbage - men!

KristinaM · 24/11/2009 14:32

oh no, i would MUCH prefer a meat cleaver

fab dress and will look even classier in dark brown

Rhubarb · 24/11/2009 14:39

Kristina - his manhood was very nearly tested by the meat cleaver! But I suppose it has always added to the fun of Christmas and birthdays, wondering what inappropriate and 'practical' present he'll have bought for me.

i thought me dh was bad with wrinkle cream and desk stationary set

now i either create a wish list on amazon on buy things and give them to him to wrap

not romantic i knwo, but i get what i like and don't feel angry/guilty about waste of money on stuff i dont

notyummy · 24/11/2009 14:57

Well done that man....but don't moan about the price fgs - tis a bargain!!

Rhubarb · 24/11/2009 15:00

notyummy, he's a bit like that though. Bought me a bra once and went on and on and on about the price for a "scrap of material" - thanks very much!

But lately he's had to suffer a pay cut and is feeling really low and depressed, so it took me all my courage to ask him tbh.

Still, I have an interview for a p/t job next Monday and am hoping to hear from another at the end of this week. If I get them both then we should be ok. Fingers crossed!

yeah Rhubard! I know exactly what you mean about feeling fabulous in something special. So pleased you managed to get your dress!

Hullygully · 24/11/2009 15:06

Slovely. Well done.

OllieWollieWoo · 24/11/2009 15:21

Lovely story Rhubarb - very pleased for you. DH once got me a new hose pipe - and thought the fact it was on a wheel thing justified it as an Xmas pressie!
