If you were a 65 year old woman who had lost a lot of weight recently...

...would you like to be given a session with a style consultant for christmas? Or would you be insulted?

My mum has lost about 2 stone, with one more to go before she's reached her goal. She's talked about needing to go shopping to buy new clothes that will fit her. She's never really liked shopping, but quite enjoyed having a personal shopper help her find an outfit for my wedding a couple of years ago.

What do you reckon? Plus, can anyone recommend a (SW) London based consultant?

That's a great idea!

I know lots of the big stores have consultants, what about John Lewis or Debenhams? I recently overheard a style consultant with a client in Debenhams and she was very good, so I'm sure your mum would like it.

well, I'm not 65 but i would love it as a gift

i wouldn't be at all insulted, i think it's very thoughtful

ooh, I hope she likes it. I'm not sure though whether she'll be as better off with just a free session in Debenhams or John Lewis or somewhere. Or if the whole colours/image overhaul is worth it. Hmmm, I'd be going in with my sisters if I can convince them but it's still quite expensive.

FAB idea. did you see Gok last night? best programme of the series, lovely 72 year old lady lost her mojo in the clothes dept, Gok makeover and she looked amazing.

I'm guessing you couldn't get Gok (!) but her very own style consultant would surely be a wonderful treat?

The Debenhams one is free and apparently very good. My aunty used it once. Maybe book a session and give some vouchers?

bigTillyMint · 24/11/2009 16:54

That's what I was thinking, northender

I just went with my mum who is same age. It was kind of tough in a way, but she was up for it, and she looks SO much better. Think is a good age to do it, especially if lost a lot of weight as kind of a new era in your life.

Meant to say we went to house of colour and did a full day colour/make up/style, that was in north london, but they have consultants all over.
