Glasses, rectangular frames or not?

Are wide rectangular spectacle frames here to stay for a few more years, or is this look a bit overdone now and about to go out of fashion? Any ideas what the next trend is likely to be? I only buy new frames every few years, so don't want to buy something that will look dated in a few months time.

no idea but I would get a shape that suits your face whether fashionable or not.

If you know your prescription, then have a look here. I've just received mine (£5) and they're great for the money. Have decided to order a few more pairs, to give me lots of scope. If you buy them cheap enough, then you can just ditch them if they go out of fashion.

PS Mine did take 3 weeks to arrive after they said they'd been despatched, but coming from Hong Kong plus postal strikes it's probably understandable.

I agree with ZZZen, get a style that suits you.

I look dreadful in those rectangular frames, and they are such a bore now that EVERYONE is wearing them. The problem you might have is finding a pair that is NOT rectangular. I find independant optitians are more likely to have a wide selection, whereas the big chains all stock exactly the same brands.

Doesn't matter so much what is fashionable. It depends what suits your face.

Thanks for replying and thanks for the link MissGreatBritain. Yes, I'd like something that suits my face The rectangular ones don't really look right so hopefully something else will be available soon (but what?) Round or oval ones are a better shape but many of the designs are not as "youthful" as I would like! I'm not too bothered about fashion but don't want to look completely out-of-date either.

Rectangle - I was just like you. My face shape really suits old-fashioned "pear-shaped" glasses, but they do look a bit dated these days. I've gone for the rectangle shape, but with frameless lenses, so you don't really see the glasses much, but they're still reasonably in fashion. Also have a couple of pairs of cheap specs (from select specs) just for wearing at home, so doesn't matter what they're like .
