How about something like these?

You start with a plain metallic bracelet made up of sevral rectangular links and then you start swapping the links for charms with different pictures on them.

Have you tried Thomas Sabo? Nice quality, loads of charms to choose from (although some of them can be expensive) to suit all ages and you do just clip them on. We bought one for DD for 1st birthday and are adding a charm per year. She's not yet three though so don't know whether she really approves of our choices so far but she can choose for herself before long. I think some dept stores have them if you want to have a look in person.

Oh, I've just had a look at that website and I don't think it's at all user-friendly. The silver bracelets are really nice but I don't think the site makes that clear at all. Plus the stockists where I bought DD's bracelet and charms don't even feature on their store locator so I know that's not very accurate. So sorry, that's not helpful at all but it is lovely jewellery so try not to be too put off. Or maybe it's just me - any website that plays a jaunty tune that I can't find the off switch for really gets on my nerves.

I brought my DD age 8 one called Nomination and it is really lovely only cost £5.00 for the bracelet and then you buy the charms extra and they cost from £5.00 up to £50.00

She loves it and has brought her best friend one for her birthday next month.

Sorry can't do links for it.

I bought my 4 year old niece one last Christmas from Bombay duck.
Its not silver - the charms are enamel, but really pretty and colourful and tons of different designs, and they literally just clip on to the bracelet (you buy a plain bracelet separately).
They add new charms every year - I buy my niece one for her birthday every year to add to it.
She loves it.

thanks ever so much. I was getting really confused by the different types and some of them are so expensive. I will have a good look at those thinks later.
