Quite fancy a pair of the classic lace up ankle boot ones to, er, kick about in and be a bit more substantial/weatherproof than trainers. I was thinking a brown pair might be nice. Do they look stupid on grown ups?

I have some purple ones I bought in france and I'm 32. They aren't very waterproof though.

i think they look a bit daft on adults but if you like them go for it.

They are very narrow so be careful.

Also they are very strong and will last for ages...but that pale sole does make them look a bit clowny.

I had a pair of the shoes which I think are a bit nicer than the boots, they were luminous red but once dyed dark red/brownish stain they looked gorgeous, with the yellowing sole especially...very cute till the backs wore down They were brand new for a quid, charity shop bargain! I also wore my auntie's original 1960s pair when Iw as a teenager, they were well cool.

The news ones are narrow fit I mean. The old ones weren't, I have super wide feet!

Yes I have very narrow feet, and my kickers fit me well.

Thanks for your advice, everyone. I'm still undecided!

I wore the traditional blue ones when last pregnant i.e. 7 years ago for comfort. The DD I had then has had lots of pairs since in purple patent, silver, pink etc. I think tiny ones are soo cute on little girls (or boys).

I don't think I would wear them now. If I wanted something along those lines I would possibly go for some docs. There are lots of nice designs if you like that kind of thing.

Dd has a silver patent pair and they look nice but the silver has been coming off since the first time she wore them and they are now (after 3 weeks ) more the-colour-under-the-silver-patent than silver.

I love my Timberlands and Red Wings are really nice too. I had some Red Wings that I bought in my early 20s and wore a few times last winter (I am 33). Can't link because dd is screeeeeetching.....
