Anyone bought maternity clothes from Vertbaudet?

I'm wondering how the sizes compare to UK clothes. I'm a 10 but since French women are typically the size of a pencil I don't know whether to choose a 12 or a 14.

bought a few things all utterly shite quality, all sent back. I think the sizes came up on the small side but that was not the issue for me. Sorry

I bought a nice brown top but the colour turned everything else in the wash pink. I still haven't confessed to DH why all his shirts got ruined

snoozealot · 12/11/2009 22:30

oh. i bought some things from them in my normal size (10) and I was really happy with it all. i think i did send something back i just didn't like on, which was dead easy no fuss.

MrsMerryHenry · 12/11/2009 22:33

Oh bum. I am having such trouble finding stylish, reasonably priced maternity clothing and found a really nice dress on there.

The quality thing is defo important for me, too, Angelina - I got something in the post from Isab Oliver today which was made from a horrible fabric so I'm sending it back. Must say I'm irritated by the fact that you have to register for a blimmin credit a/c with Vertbaudet, etc, so perhaps I'm better off without that dress...

I have to say my no1 choice for mat wear has to be Mamas and Papas. If you can get to London- go to their flagship shop (on Oxford St?) with some cash, then go and have lunch in their cafe upstairs and muse on how the Italians get it so right.

tvfriend · 12/11/2009 22:49

Had a denim skirt from there. Size 12 was a pretty accurate size 12. Didn't have anything else from there but the quality was fine (much better than the denim skirt from Zara maternity that fell apart in my hands)

MrsMerryHenry · 12/11/2009 22:49

I did look at their website and their stuff didn't appeal, but maybe I should give it a second chance. Am going to be in Oxf Circus next week so I could do exactly as you suggested!

Am going to buy the Vertbaudet dress anyway, and will send it back if no good - looks like you can just pay by card these days, thank goodness.

My favourite is still Gap maternity- big department at the one near Selfridges...

MrsMerryHenry · 12/11/2009 22:56

Been there, tvfriend - only liked a few items, but they are doing well as staples...

Didn't know Zara maternity existed though (although your skirt story is not encouraging!). Which Oxf/ Reg St branch is that?

The M&P's website doesn't do their clothes justice IMO and has minimal info. The thing about their store is that there is so much choice that you're bound to find something that's ideal. The staff are great too and their jeans are brilliant

MrsMerryHenry · 12/11/2009 23:10

Ah, good to know. Also jeans - yes, I refuse to buy jeans without trying them on so I think I'll hotfoot it out of the office asap and get down to their store. Thanks loads for the tip, Angelina.

Just looking at M&Ps - ouch! £100 for mat jeans! Will have to hope the £38 make me look irresistible.

comes up normal size, but don't buy the trousers unless you are a midget.

MrsMerryHenry · 13/11/2009 21:49

Ivresse - I have a black woman's curvy backside so would definitely not buy trousers before trying!
