Lost my way after having DS2....Come style me

suwoo · 09/11/2009 18:34

There is a pic of me on my profile although my hair is shoter which I hate. I am still styling it the same though. I am 34 with 3 DC's and I have no clothes that look great as still a dress size bigger than normal. I flit between ditzy, edgy and chavvy .

I am finally going off my uggs (4 pairs) and have bought these converse to wear with my black skinny jeans. I also have these over knee boots but in black.

I have a fab 'on trend' tulip coat which I love and I do hair and make up every day.

Oh and I am on maternity leave so need day clothes. Am 5.5 with hourglass figure, big 32F boobs and a fat arse.

I am not really a Next or Boden kind of girl, I tend to just buy tat stuff from Primarni.

What should I be looking for??? Help me oh style gurus.

size 16 here so that would be a no!

Got three T's and two dresses (jersey) and a pair of brown leggings (great quality)and a coatigan form there so not everything is dinky.

CheerfulYank · 10/11/2009 15:56

It all depends on personal style really. I am all about worn jeans and flipflops/converse and plain long sleeved tees. I have friends who are very stylish but what looks great on them doesn't on me IYSWIM. Good luck to you! I think you're gorgeous but I know how it is to feel like you're a "frumpy mom".

KristinaM · 10/11/2009 19:02

i heart zara

but i am much older than you and would shop more in new look, river island and top shop if i was younger

mostly only get jeans and accessories there now

suwoo · 10/11/2009 19:06

The dollshouse and meggle I x posted with you earlier and I have only just noticed your posts now. Yes I have put myself forward but don't suppose I'll win. Thanks for your compliments meggle but I am just feeling down at the mo, have never been this heavy before. Diet is in hand so that is making me more positive.
Was just heading out to the Trafford Centre but kids are playing up too much so not going. Might order from topshop online tonight, but not sure what size?

OP posts:
suwoo · 10/11/2009 20:59

Not been in river island for about 10 years. No idea why really. Maybe I should start.
LTEC, are you around yet? I'm off to bed shortly but will have my trusty iPhone.

OP posts:
DippyDino · 10/11/2009 21:10

I've gone off river island stuff, felt it was poor quality.

Just have to say I have looked at your photo and as a bisexual laydee, I totally would. I like curvier girls, and I mean that in a non-weird way. (very skinny girls don't do it for me, so the skinny girls I know are just good friends).

HTH!

suwoo · 10/11/2009 21:27

Ha ha, Dippy you have just made me nearly spit out my vodka and diet coke .

Some fella 'checked me out' today too, it must be my lucky day.

Thanks for your compliment and yes it does help

LetThemEatCake · 10/11/2009 21:34

here I am!
jealous that you are off to bed soon, I am just sitting down to start work
lovely coat and congrats on the course! that's fab.

thing is, you can't wear your coat all the time, so when you're indoors but still chilly, you need a longer-length cardigan. Worn over plain long-sleeve tees in whatever neckline suits you (I'm guessing V??) this will look great with skinnies and converse for casual and with skinnies and boots and maybe a scarf for dressier. Try to go for a silk/ cashmere mix (zara have them) so that it feels a bit luxurious and doesn't bobble too much!!

I like the topshop bird top. Maybe also this - don't know if pink is your thing but it would suit you and I find it lifts my mood considerably!

Also get yourself a sweater dress to wear with your boots and thick tights.

Agree with megglevache about Zara - definitely worth a look. But no one over the age of 18 should set foot in river island!!

I find that most of my baby weight doesn't come off until I reduce feeds but since I don't introduce anything other than breastmilk until 20 weeks, I've got a few months of lardiness ahead Yours will no doubt drop off now!!

suwoo · 10/11/2009 21:44

Thanks LTEC. Yes, unfortunately I can't wear my coat all the time, although I would love to as feel very confident in it. Can you give me an idea for a cardigan, mine make me look heavy (maybe cos I am )

I still have a muffin top because my jeans are so tight, so I am avoiding plain tees for the short term, but will have a look or maybe just buy the next size up in cheapy Primark skinnies for a few weeks.

Have last years sweater dresses but they look shit, should find one in Primarni. What length with those very high leg boots and what thickness of wool would you suggest?

I will lose weight when I stop drinking wine . Sorry you are still working but I bet you knock those articles out in no time. (don't take that the wrong way)

Oh and I do like pink, but not sure about that top- it looks a bit frumpy. Necks don't have to be V, as boobs are in proportion I can get away with it.

Oh and finally..... thank you and to everyone who has commented so far.

Keep going

OP posts:
PutDown · 10/11/2009 22:27

Agree re wine Suwoo.I can lose lbs in a week if I don't drink.
It is a cliche ,but how about control knickers under your sweater dresses??
I like Autograph tights with cashmere,about £9 I think.
Also,if you feel a bit lumpy in jeans and tee, layer a sleeveless cardi/waistcoat over and disguises lumpiness

suwoo · 10/11/2009 22:41

Thanks for that, putdown. Have you got any links yo the sort of cardi you are thinking of?

OP posts:
Megglevache · 10/11/2009 22:52

oooh and have you thought about investing in an all in one- underwired body thing. I have a couple of pricey ones which are the only thing that makes me feel good when I want lump/bump free dressing.

LetThemEatCake · 10/11/2009 23:24

suwoo - I have just bought this in black - linking to blue for Megglevache's benefit and have to say that it is very flattering on my currently-larger-than-usual frame. Works well to make a jeans and tee combo look swisher.

Re: the tees, don't buy from Primark as cheapo fabric will only sit badly and make you self conscious. I find them to also be shorter in the body, so not kind to jeans overspill. Heavier fabric will skim your lumps and bumps and reduce muffine toppage. I've been wearing a few from white stuff which are good - long in the body etc - but I've heard other MNers speaking highly of M&S - think it was called the perfect layering tee or something? Good range of colours and less than half the price of what I've been wearing

sweater dresses - think this should be one of your key pieces as you'll be wearing it for a good few months and probably next winter too. So worth spending a bit on. My fave that I've seen this year is this

suwoo · 11/11/2009 06:37

Was reading this and googling all the suggestions at 3am! Will definitely get some of the t shirts from marks, would have to be black though- not keen on a coloured top and jeans look- too mumsy. Can't afford the cozy cardi or the toast dress but loving the shape of it, uniqlo have nothing similar this year which is a shame. I might be a turned worm and get the Henley knitted tunic from Boden, LTEC, you have it don't you? I would go for the shorter one in grey in a 14. What are the sizes like and what's the best code about I wonder?

OP posts:
KristinaM · 11/11/2009 08:00

LOL suwoo is buying boden. na na na na na

LNAM is 15% off and free P%P and returns

xhnt £10 off £30 seems to have expired. i tried it yesterday for a sweater for DH. he is very old so its ok to buy him Boden

veryconfusedandupset · 11/11/2009 08:35

suwoo - if you like the Toast dress there is a good chance they will have some left in their wonderful sale - always a treasure trove of lovely and greatly reduced items, but doesn't start until well after Christmas.

LetThemEatCake · 11/11/2009 09:03

suwoo - when i was deciding whether to buy the DKNY cardi, loads of MNers told me that TKMaxx is full of cardis in that same shape, do you have one near you? I just couldn't face it with the children, went for the easier, albeit more £££ option.

re: the Henley - I've got the dress in a 10R. Black. I think the sizing is generous since I was wearing it on the day I gave birth to dc3. It now feels big on me despite the fact I am nowhere near being a 10 yet (size 14 skinny jeans are currently a bit too tight) I am actually about to put it on ebay since I am finding bfing a bit awkward in it (buttons don't come down quite far enough) so shout if you want one for much less than you'd pay even with a discount!!

I'll keep looking for waterfall cardigans and knitted dresses this afternoon when back from the zoo!

KristinaM · 11/11/2009 09:25

LOL at LTEC wondering why her size 10 knitted tunic feels big after wearing at 9 months pg

LetThemEatCake · 11/11/2009 09:47

Yes but surely it should not have fit perfectly at 9months if it were a true size 10???
Definitely think the sizing is generous!!

suwoo · 11/11/2009 09:49

Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a pink one on Ebay, but I'd love to try yours. Not sure if it will fit though? I measured myself this morning and my hips/arse are a hefty 44 inches . I carry all my weight on my bum though, so it should shift soon. I'm going jogging tonight when it gets dark.

OP posts:
Pinkjenny · 11/11/2009 11:06

I would like to verify that suwoo has a lovely bum, and is really doing herself a disservice on this thread.

As you were.

suwoo · 11/11/2009 11:56

Nope, all that proves is that I hide it well.

But thanks all the same .

OP posts:
LetThemEatCake · 11/11/2009 14:35

suwoo - do you still have my email address?

suwoo · 11/11/2009 14:46

No I don't. Mine is [email protected]
Thanks

suwoo · 13/11/2009 12:10

Who wants to know what I bought? I am particularly loving one of the Topshop items.
