Black at a wedding?

I'm going to two weddings next year, one in January which will be mostly indoor ( I hope!) and one in sept in Italy.
I've seen a couple of lovely sleeveless floaty black dresses. I thought of putting a pretty cardigan over it for the jan wedding with court shoes with a bow. For the sept one, I've seen some spotty B&W sandals with a black rose on the front... thought I could get a white rose to go on the dress to tie it in.
I don't really wear dresses so I don't want to buy 2 expensive outfits.
Is black ok for the Italian wedding?

It could be very warm in Italy and black absorbs heat.

I personally don't like black for weddings but lots of people do seem to these days. No idea if it's acceptable in Italy or not. Sorry.

I'm inclined to say no. And they take the black for mourning thing pretty seriously in Italy I think.

Although I did wear a black dress to two weddings when I was 37 and then 39 weeks pregnant. With a VERY big hat. I think that was allowed.

Thanks for the input!

I thought as much but wanted to test the water. I've got reddish hair so I love that sort of brown that looks like melted milk chocolate. I've been trying to find something in that but no luck.
If I'm honest, I'm not a massive fan of black on me but it seemed like a safe option.
