Help thought I had found a wedding dress but have changed my mind

Last week DP and I decided to elope to our wedding destination 10 months before we had planned to and without family etc being there. I thought I had found a gorgeous dress but it was the wrong size and too much money. I have been thinking about this and had been going to wear a cocktail style dress. But I have changed my mind and I really do want a more traditional style dress. So this is what I love please help me find this for 500 GBP and under oh and I need it asap wedding date 29th January 2010.

That's a beautiful dress. Wish I could carry it off.

Mind you, that looks like a bloody awful photoshop extension job they've done on her neck in the hover enlarge.

JamInMyWellies · 05/11/2009 22:17

I have loads of JCrew stuff. Have emailed them to find out their shipping policy and will have to let the cat out if the bag if I need to ship to my sister. See mumsnet comes up trumps again.

MYUS will give you an address to ship the dress to, then post it on to you.

They are often recommended in magazines.

I saw another similar one a few days ago, I'll have a look

VerityBrulee · 05/11/2009 22:24

Found it - BundleBox

At least that way you could keep the secret

JamInMyWellies · 05/11/2009 22:27

Thats a good idea. MY BF also lives in NY and is in on the secret but she is rubbish at posting things.

ooh congratulations. I love the dress in yr OP

I got a 40s vintage dress for my wedding. It bobbed up in a junk shop in leeds and I paid 40 quid for it. After good adjustments and dry clean it came up great.

Planned the whole wedding in under 8 weeks as well

Intention isn't to boast - just to advise you to go into all the vintage shops nearby and anywhere you go. Specially ones run by odd old ladies that only open for about 4 hrs a week

I got everything else off ebay - headdress, vintage feather fan, amazing marilyn monroeesque shoes (alas they didn't fit nicely cos sizes have obv got more generous but hey they looked GREAT on pics)

will keep my eyes peeled for you and report back

JamInMyWellies · 05/11/2009 22:41

Will do herjazz.

They have stockists in the UK too and I think their prices are pretty reasonable.

You have to be teeny tiny and so toned to carry a dress like that off. Am sure you are and it's beyond beautiful. As the first poster said every tiny bit shows. You can't wear anything to hold you in it's just you. But cripes it's gorgeous.

JamInMyWellies · 06/11/2009 09:49

Well my may girls saw my figure in the Summer what do you think with a pair of spanx?

Have mailed my sis so hoping she will be able to bring the dress back at Christmas.

Pinkjenny · 06/11/2009 09:56

My favourite is the one you described as lush. Your figure is beautiful, you most definitely have it, so flaunt it. Maybe not too many mince pies though

Themasterandmargaritas · 06/11/2009 10:06

Did you decide on the Jcrew one? I think you would look lovely in that. The first one in your OP was divine but terribly clingy, I think the JCrew one is more flattering for you. Either way you will be radiant.

Pinkjenny · 06/11/2009 10:19

I agree.

JamInMyWellies · 06/11/2009 10:19

Thinking the jcrew one still but have an app tom to go to a place and try on some Jim Hjelm ones just so I can see.

bless you

Okay, this isn't a wedding dress per se but has that long & flowing thing going on plus I love the flower detail:

I like that J Crew Tatiana dress too.

AprilMeadow · 06/11/2009 13:46

The JCrew dress is stunning JAM and you will look totally gorgeous in it

You will need a web cam so all us May ladies can be there also

JamInMyWellies · 08/11/2009 19:54

Found my dress! It has cost 40 from ebay. I went to a wedding dress shop on Saturday tried on a few gorgeous dresses including some proper wedding dresses. I tried on a lovley Jim Hjelm one (thanks Tilly) and loved it. Came home looked on Ebay and lo and behold someone was selling one in my size that had only been worn in a bridal show. So its winging its way to me.

Will post pics after the big day.

Thankyou all.
