That's really lovely! And she probably won't be treating herself for a while - cash will probably go on the baby. I'm someone's nanny and I like it when employers get me a more personal present than cash (although that was appreciated when I was a struggling student!).

Sounds a bit silly but my lovely nanny (as in grandmother) used to give me money and a few clippings of things she thought were beautiful for me to spend it on.

I got a £30 voucher from mil for my birthday and though it wasn't for a shop I usually go to I really enjoyed my hour or so trying things on and shopping for something for me. Vouchers aren't always a cop out!
