What can ds wear to a christening?

My brother is having a last minute christening for his dd on sunday,my 2year old ds has nothing to wear i can't drive and live in the country so need mail order that can be trusted to deliver this week would like smart outfit no jeans or even jean style cords etc ds has dark brown shoes so should go with those please.

he must have some clothes
jeans or cords are fine for a 2yo IMO so long as with a shirt/jumper not a tshirt

however if you are desperate to spend money Jojo do good classic things and deliver next day for £5 - try these trous and a shirt, with maybe a tank top

My 3-yr old twin boys were at their own christening last weekend - and I dressed them in smart trousers and shirts from Next - delivered to my door!

Thankyou for the links MrsBadger of course ds has some clothes,however all his clothes have been kindly past on by sil and as they are on the 3rd 2 year old boy to have them they are not good enough condition for a formal do! Twinsmommy dh looked on next last night but i wiil try myself!

I purchased smart black trousers (I think in their School range) and really lovely royal blue stripy shirt and green striped shirt. Very nice.

Twinmommy thankyou i would never had thought to look in schoolwear for a 2 year old but the smallest size will fit him now i just need to choose a shirt!

i think that jeans are fine for a toddler, like mrs badger, if he wears them with a nice jumper or shirty type top. i personally would go for some funky baggy cords with a nice chunky jumper...

my 3yo has this jumper..its lovely, really cosy, and i would get something like these with it.

if you can afford it, it won't harm to have one "nice" going out set of clothes ready for christmas, but i would only buy something that he'll be able to wear a lot.

i tend to buy jumpers quite big, so hopefully my kids get a whole years worth of wear out of them emotiocon!

Chimchar i'm not anti jeans it's just that i never buy ds anything so would like something a bit different,the clothes sil passes on are all jeans and joggers i do like the cords you liked to and you could be right about a jumper in church in november he might be cold in a shirt thankyou

smable - it might be worth checking with your brother to see what the church is like. He will, no doubt, be speaking with/have spoken with whoever is performing the ceremony and could enquire/might already know the usual temperature in there.

The church we were in last weekend was toasty-warm - I had dressed the boys in a plain t-shirt under their shirts, just in case it was a bit nippy - but they didn't need it. And this week is supposed to be lovely weather, so hope it will stay nice for the weekend for you!

I think if he rarely gets new stuff (dd is similar ) then what he does get should be worn as hard and long as possible...

a smart formal outfit will get worn maybe twice (ie this christening and Christmas) but a pair of good cord, or those lined trous from Jojo, with a decent jumper, will look good for the events and then go into everyday circulation for the rest of the winter.

MIL drives me nuts buying dd frilly satin dresses for Christmas when really something like this would be just as pretty and a lot more useful afterwards.

MrsBadger i do agree with you about reuse which is why i'm stopping myself ordering a suit from monsoon.I have looked through his clothes and found that we still have knitted tank top from last year as it's sleeveless and strechy he will get away with it for 1 day i have order the brown cords chimchar linked to at next and a stripy shirt that will match the new cords and some jeans sil passed on.thankyou all for your help!
