...dyed mine today (ghastly greyage) and where it was gingery and strawlike this morning is now glossy and brown.

Have been tossing my mane all day

oh will you come round to my house and do my roots ??

I did a fantabulous job on my hair about 8 weeks ago.. Very caramel. NOW....... I have caramel with mouse. I am scared to tackle the roots.

Have you done your own roots before?? Any tips?

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:11

I have done roots with a root kit...with mixed results. This was an all over job, applied to roots first then spread through.

L'Oreal 10 minute jobs are brilliant too. I'd toss if I had any hair.

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:13

Oh coco I tried that stuff and hated it! that's what made my hair like Arthur Scargills in the first place.

oooh you wax your head??? you're hard!

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:15

My dd told me she preferred my hair 'ginger'

I like ginger! ginger is what I'm after. Anything is better than lost in a crowd of one Mouse coloured hair.

cocolepew · 25/10/2009 19:17

My hair's well 'ard. It can take anything I throw at it.
I've dyed it 3 times in the last 10 days including bleach.

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:17

Ginger is good if its glossy ginger. Mine was dull dull dull with grey roots. Not a good look

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:18

what colour are you coco?

OP posts:
cocolepew · 25/10/2009 19:19

caucasian.

SimonHowl · 25/10/2009 19:19

are you a haughty mare now then

MyCatsAScarierBastardThanYours · 25/10/2009 19:19

Does it last? I tried the 10 minute one and it was brilliant - great coverage and was as quick as it said, but 3 weeks later I'm seeing quite a lot of grey again. Nice N Easy lasted about 8 weeks.

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:24

lol coco. Yes Simon I am hurrumphing through my nostrils as we speak

And on a sensible note Mycats I HOPE it will last longer than that 10 minute rubbish

8 weeks? from a dye? Didn't your hair grow at all?

My hair is grey dark brown. Being a lady of a certain age I've gone with the lighter look. I dyed it too dark, put bleached highlights in, dyed it with a lighter bpown and have lovely low lights now.

I missed my calling, I should own a salon by now.

cocolepew · 25/10/2009 19:25

bpown?

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:25

you did all that yourself?

Ahh, but you do spend a LOT of time in Boots, don't you, are you wandering aimlessly up and down the hair colorant aisle

OP posts:
CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:26

yes medium brown but on my ginger straw its come out darker

OP posts:
cocolepew · 25/10/2009 19:27

Yes I'm a dye expert and I cut it myself too.

MyCatsAScarierBastardThanYours · 25/10/2009 19:27

It does grow (honest), but I don't have masses of grey, just at the temples a bit so it didn't show so much.

CybilAviationAuthority · 25/10/2009 19:28

shame you are so far away you could come and give me a trim

OP posts:
hormonstersnomore · 25/10/2009 19:28

Aargh, I had mine coloured at a salon for years. Now I can't afford it, thought I'd use Nice n easy or summat and now my hair's almost jet black. Not a good look for an old dear! How do I get it lighter again without having light roots as they're very grey?

cocolepew · 25/10/2009 19:28

I have shortish hair and when visiting my brother a few years ago I forgot to dye it before I went. So I touched up my roots with mascara.

It rained.

cocolepew · 25/10/2009 19:30

hormone if you look in bots there are lighting kits, you just brush it on for low lights. When it's time to dye it again you'll still get it lighter on these bits. Think it's by Garnier. Will look.
