How can I stretch my new shoes?

Hello, have been lurking on Style and Beauty for ages and have you guys to thank for my new post breastfeeding wardrobe (and smaller bank balance)!

I'm now hoping you can help with my dilema. I have just bought some some new shoes like these but plain black after coveting them for ages. Unfortunately they are just too tight around the widest bit of my foot and make my feet hurt. What would be the best way to stretch them??

if they were leather my mum claims to have a spray that stretches them (i was a bit cos you spray it on the outside and i'd have thought that could mark) but the leopardy bit isn't leather is it?

Take them to a shoe repair shop, and have the people there do it for you.

ah just reread, maybe a spray would work then?

TitchyWitch · 23/10/2009 15:12

Earlybird, I didn't know they did that at shoe repair shops. Have never heard of a spray and does sound a bit but I guess it could work.

But it does sound like there is hope for me and my shoes. And if it does work it will make me feel a bit about all the shoes I have got rid of for being too tight.

Try having a go with your hair dryer - if leather this can soften them slightly and then you can put your feet in them. have tried a couple of times and has made some difference.

Hmmm - well, they do it all the time at repair shops in America. Can't recall if I've had it done in England or not.

Still, probably worth asking before you try spraying them with something that may or may not work.

I assume you've worn them already so can't exchange for the next size up?

Get your DH/DP to wear them around the house .

Or else, wear them around the house yourself but with thick socks on.

mum swears it works and she used it on pale grey without any marks but i'd still be tbh. what do the repair shop people do then?

TitchyWitch · 23/10/2009 15:21

I would get my DH to wear them but he is a size 10 and I'm a size 3! Might be fun though.
It is frustrating as they fit so well otherwise and the size 4 was just too big. It just seems to me that other people with small feet must have narrow feet as well and I just don't.

I bought shoe stretcher from Barratt's shoe shop. It's a small aerosol can and you spray it INSIDE the shoe, immediately putting your foot in while it's still damp and this really works!

Stuff some scrunched up wet newspaper and leave overnight then wear them the next day with thick socks.
