Where do you get your thin long sleeved tops for layering with?

I need several thin long sleeved tops, turtle necks, scoopnecks, v necks for layering, in funky colours and not jsut black and white.

Any ideas where to get? Seen a couple on Joe Browns but that's it really.

oh adn ALBS (crap name we ned to change you)
think about a scarf or long necklace that ends at the right spot for your body shape

alittlebitshy · 22/10/2009 18:47

lol, how do you have your colours done under duress? do they torture you or tie you to a chair?!

MacaroonIncident · 22/10/2009 18:49

this in grey

with a scarf and long sleeved slim armed tee under

MacaroonIncident · 22/10/2009 18:49

wel i went along humfily. then argued with her that bright red DOES suit ( it doesnt) and went off as a muted summer.

piratecat · 22/10/2009 18:50

so were you cold or hot blooded ?

StrictlyAvadaKedavraarrrrghhhh · 22/10/2009 18:54

Ok I've ordered one of every colour of the M&S modal ones as I couldn't decide what colours I need

Going to Peacocks tomorrow to look at the ribbed top I linked to earlier.

MacI - didn't know people still got their colours done, thought that was a 1980s thing

StrictlyAvadaKedavraarrrrghhhh · 22/10/2009 18:55

MacaroonIncident · 22/10/2009 18:58

you have to look
i cant wear long necklaces as they hand on one tit in the fashion of a 1970s art teacher.
it has to bechunky and end under collar bone.

for eg/

MacaroonIncident · 22/10/2009 18:58

hang

not hand

StrictlyAvadaKedavraarrrrghhhh · 22/10/2009 19:00

Hmm I do have large norks and things tend to hang in a Hattie Jaques manner if I'm not careful

sdo about this necklace thing and hanging at the right spot for your shape . how do you KNOW? i love some of the white stuff necklaces but am v simple girl and usually just go for silver chain with different glass pendants and charms.
hmm need a personal shopper ala gok

purplepeony · 22/10/2009 19:21

HH- what shape are you re. necklaces?
I am short with a short neck and don't wear short choker type necklaces unless they are very fine chains etc. Ilook as if I ambeing strangled.

I wear long dangly chunky beads to make my torso look longer and I have small norks so they don't get entangled either!

I love the look of White S necklaces but think they are grossly overpriced. I tend to tone/contrast necklaces with what I wear.
I have one long beady necklace which I got from Next which is purple, brown and teal and silver beads and it goes with so many things, and I get loads of compliments about it- cost a tenner. It also gives a casual twist to more serious/formal outfits, such as smart work trousers, white T underneath and a plain tank top.

Try things on- don't add chunky/busy beads to floral or busy patterned tops, unless they are in one colour only. If you are small, don't wear things that take-over.

MacaroonIncident · 22/10/2009 19:24

agree with you re white stuffnecklaces

nymphadora · 22/10/2009 19:26

New Look are good, I am wearing last years which don't look worn out (unusual for me )

PutDown · 22/10/2009 21:08

Me to Purple re WS necklaces.
I find Wallis,Marks,East cheaper.

MacaroonIncident · 22/10/2009 21:08

and superdrug have nice jewellery oddly

BucketsOfBlood · 22/10/2009 21:13

ASda do longsleeved thermal vests for £4 in black or white!

I do layering the other way round - sleeveless/shortsleeved dress/tunic over jeans/leggings with a cardi over the top (V-neck or ballet if you are D-cup or more.)

PutDown · 22/10/2009 21:17

Glad you said that Macaroon.
Have eyed a few pieces up in there but never bought.

BucketsOfBlood · 22/10/2009 21:17

Those M&S ones won't suit everyone, would suit winter folk, maybe summers (if you know your Colour Me Beautiful but I'm sure you can get all the info online and DIY.) Eg if you know you look good in yellow-based shades (autumn/spring) you may look quite ill in any of those.

OurLadyOfPerpetualBloodSucker · 22/10/2009 21:35

Fatface have a few bright ones in their catalogue ATM.
Online as well.

OurLadyOfPerpetualBloodSucker · 22/10/2009 21:40

www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk as well.

henryhuggins · 22/10/2009 22:53

am size 12, 5 6 pretty average. neck is normal (?!) think will just try some on and see. out of my comfort zone but they look so nice on other people!

minko · 22/10/2009 23:23

I'd completely recommend the Uniqlo Heat-tech ones. Lots of colours, nice and warm and wash brilliantly. Don't be put off by them saying 3/4 length sleeves either, they're pretty much normal length and I am tall with long arms!
