Please help me find a bag

I am so not a shoes or bags person but I really need a new bag and am hoping some of you might help me please.

It needs to be:

  • quite small - big enough for classroom keys, a couple of pens etc but not much else;
  • a long very slim strap so I can wear it across the body all day and stop losing said classroom keys, pens etc;
  • slim enough to fit inside work tote to go to work and back;
  • not expensive (in fact, cheap).

Thanks ever so.

wow- so many responses....

Do you do leather, Mrs Veggie?

AngryPixie · 22/10/2009 13:07

this fits your criteria but had a bad review.

AngryPixie · 22/10/2009 13:09

nice but too expensive???

AngryPixie · 22/10/2009 13:16

A selection from TKMaxx

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 22/10/2009 21:03

Am a bad veggie nowadays and 'do leather', yep.

Thank you Angrypixie - some of the TKMaxx ones loo good and I like the style of the Debenhams one too. I don't like your 2nd one as it looks a bit fussy.

Any more please folks?

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 22/10/2009 21:04

looK - am marking poetry essays and typing at the same time!

EachPeachPearMum · 22/10/2009 23:46

I would say TKMxx too- I have had some really good bags from there in the past (radley and coccinelle mostly)

OurLadyOfPerpetualBloodSucker · 22/10/2009 23:55

I've just bought the Lana Bodybag (!) from www.whitestuff.co.uk, it fits your description and looks much nicer irl.

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 16:05

Will brave TKMaxx. The White Stuff one looks too big tbh but thanks anyway. I only need a tiny one.

AngryPixie · 23/10/2009 16:23

But this whitestuff bag is gorgeous

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 16:27

Yes - that one is lovely.

Sunshinemummified · 23/10/2009 16:33

Next have some good bags at the moment here.

AngryPixie · 23/10/2009 16:34

WOO-HOO I found the perfect bag tra la la la la

MarshaBrady · 23/10/2009 16:35

(Janeite As a quick aside -we just finished the book in your name. Love John Burningham. Have you read Courtney?)

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 16:40

Now I didn't say it was perfect. To be perfect it would be black, not brown and it would be on offer just to me at a tenner!

I like this one on the Next site but maybe a bit big?

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 16:40

Not read Courtney, no. But John Patrick Norman is the coolest boy in school! My girls have long grown out of picture books but I couldn't resist the little name change.

AngryPixie · 23/10/2009 17:00

Noooo to the next bag - just say no to tassels!

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 17:03

Oh I was thinking that the tassle would be easy to cut off.

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 17:04

I liked the colour of the burgundy one.

Sunshinemummified · 23/10/2009 17:27

I think the tassle would be easy to get rid of but personally I like a bag with a tassle.

OurLadyOfPerpetualBloodSucker · 23/10/2009 19:04

I thought the coin bag looked smaller than you needed (huffs).

I've had a few bags that size and they're cute, but they don't half bulge once your purse, phone, keys and lippy are wedged inside.

OurLadyOfPerpetualBloodSucker · 23/10/2009 19:06

Burgundy's a great colour but don't they look a bit like despatch riders' bags?

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 19:06

I just need to be able to fit keys and a couple of pens in. Might have a look at it anyway. Thanks.

JANEITEPatrickNormanMcHennesy · 23/10/2009 19:10

Ooh look at this one - what do you think? Would prefer cheaper though.
