Can I attend Christmas dinner with family in my PJs?

I am due to have ds by CS on 29th December. We always have a big family Christmas dinner at my aunt's house, and everyone gets dressed up.

I already feel absolutely mahoosive, and the thought of shoehorning myself into a fancy outfit at 40w makes me puke.

Has anyone attended a function when they were heavily pg? What did you wear? Can I just turn up in my PJs?

i hope you get some nice PJs for christmas though, because then you can say you're showingthem off!

TMMJ - I was only joking about the PJs - as if I'd let myself go that much . Do you have any suggestions of actual clothes that would be soft and stretchy and comfy??

theres lots you can wear? thats comfy and still looks gorgeous, i remember wearing a lovely dress xmas day 05 at 39wks pg.

and I agree with mmj, wear normal clothes, they don;t have to be fancy, but not pjs!

I didn't even get to 40w with dd, she was delivered at 38w.

i had some nice stretchy trousers and then just a pretty top next maternity i think it was (but that was 4yrs ago maternity wear even better now) a dress is even comfier tho as nothing digging in round your bump!!

off the point entirely but my DD was born 29/12 (not CS). I remember making an effort to dress up for Christmas dinner with my parents, not wanting to eat anything and feeling utterly enormous and fed up. Wear whatever you want - you've the perfect excuse to look a little eccentric!

dd2 was born on the 29th december too though not due until 18th jan, i was wearing casual clothes for xmas iirc, i think you are allowed to wear whatever feels best for you at that late stage

I went to my mums for christmas dinner last year with a 24 HOUR OLD baby and got dressed, straightened my hair and did my makeup and slept on her couch all day!

Well I would, and perhaps will, literally stay in my pjs for xmas day. I would anyway but this year I have being pg as an excuse.

I might continue the theme by spending the day lying on the sofa and also going to sleep. (I do like Christmas but find Christmas dinner a rigmarole.)

If you really have to be dressed, a stretchy wrap or knitted dress and warm tights would be fine.

why not in the last 3 or somonths of my pregancy i wore my PJs all the time, even for work , because they were the only correct fitting comfy clothes i owned!

there is a fad locally for teenage girls to wear pyjama bottoms out and about, so you will also be ultra cool, tell yourself
