I am thinking of braving the jegging .

I am after a black pair after spectacularly failing to find any black jeans to fall in love with.

I am 5'6 and a size 8 - 10.

Would ideally like a pair with a mid to high rise to avoid muffin toppage......does such a pair exist?

Any recommendations or places to avoid?

yowser megglevache!

geordieminx · 19/10/2009 09:02

Bought and wore jeggings for the first time last week - what a frikking nightmare - spent the whole day harking them up as the waist kept slipping down - thus exposing muffin top (under tunic of course) - anyone else find this or is it just crappy jeggings(from tesco)?

GordonBrownsTeaLady · 19/10/2009 09:11

No mine need adjusted.

maybe we should be wearing braces with them?

startingagain · 19/10/2009 09:12

Aaah! You see, my dd is confusing me then, she has jeggings, proper denim material, but she now prefers the (she calls them jeggings) leggings in denim colour and with the 'jean' stitching etc., but they are legging material! They would just be called leggings then....try telling her that!

ScaryFucker · 19/10/2009 10:59

meggle, there is a whole website devoted to camel-hoofery, I believe

somebody linked to it recently

tulpe · 19/10/2009 11:04

An entire site devoted to camel-hoofery???? Oh my giddy aunt. I don't think I could cope.....and I don't think I want to know why such a site would exist

Thanks all. Am just off to the shops to look at variety of jeggings/treggings mentioned

And just to reassure.....my ass will most definitely be covered whilst wearing any newly purchased jeg/treg whatever

Megglevache · 19/10/2009 11:34

Tulpe at a size 8-10 your ass does not need covering, I probably have a dolly's handkerchief that would do the trick

ScaryFucker · 19/10/2009 11:41

ah, meggle

you see, your legacy is carved in stone

Megglevache · 19/10/2009 11:45

Victorious, are they long on the seat? I hate those ones you have to pull up all the time.

VictoriousSponge · 19/10/2009 11:46

well i only tried them on then got dressed into comfy jeans and converse combo,,,, btu they were high rise yes.

will link

VictoriousSponge · 19/10/2009 11:47

here - i am not wearing them thus, they have functioning backpockets too hooray

Megglevache · 19/10/2009 11:55

I like them, but fear I would look like Pat Butcher in them (sodding apple shape but trying v. hard to shift it)

Can you put them on again and then bend over for me a few times and see if they roll down any?

Puts on boom chicca wah-wah music and waits>

VictoriousSponge · 19/10/2009 12:09

i will do byt not right now

bodycolder · 19/10/2009 12:12

These are greatwww.frenchconnection.com/product/womens+Jeans/74CC2/Almeria+Jean.htm.The next ones look good although don't like that blue.

stakethroughtheheartofgold · 19/10/2009 20:19

i like the idea of them, tried to buy some even, but in cold light of day, seeing them all hanging limply on the racks with their wrinkly elasticated waists i couldn't bring myself to pick them up. turns out i have a deep seated psychological need for a non elasticated waist and fly, even if no-one's seeing it. got dotty ps £20 black skinnies instead.

stakethroughtheheartofgold · 19/10/2009 20:20

also i reckon a fixed waist with suitable ease makes for less muffin than elasticated which has to dig in to stay up.

CybilCeremony · 19/10/2009 20:21

Not feeling the jeggings thing at all.

tulpe · 19/10/2009 20:40

Me neither Cybil after today's shopping trip .

I tried on a variety of jeggings/treggings and skinny jeans and lost the will to live after umpteenth pair. They all seem far too tight over the calf. I am not the most lithe of lovelies in the leg department but I didn't think they were that bad!

Do they make them in a straight cut? Or is that a stoopid question ?

ScaryFucker · 19/10/2009 20:53

tulpe, then they would be called slacks

tulpe · 19/10/2009 20:59

Scary!!

I must admit that every pair I saw reminded me of my old maternity trousers!

I shall soldier on.....there has to be a pair of jeggings out there for me somewhere, surely

OP posts:
ScaryFucker · 19/10/2009 21:04

good luck with your mission

I like TopShop ones, personally, but even they go baggy of knee after a couple of hours wear

fishie · 19/10/2009 21:34

tulpe yes mine are really tight in odd places and loose as fuck on waist. not dissuaded, i have got another pair in grey denim upstairs. haven't tried them on yet.

momijigari · 19/10/2009 22:30

I agree, Tesco's jeggings are rubbish on the waist, but surely one would only suffer from camel toe in a pair of thin v tight leggings, not in denim material, unless you have a large fanjo?
