I got the feeling the white shirt would be all uncomfortable unless it was really thin.

Yup to it being the same as a uniform though

No, not that one.

I have a black cashmere roll-neck sweater dress that I wore almost every day last winter when it was very cold - it is a bit worn out now, but was really lovely and cosy. I might replace it with the same dress!

I was about to say I'd pick something like that but in black - more versatile

Actually scrap the black I'd have picked grey.

FlameWithTooManyHormones · 15/10/2009 09:55

I have no idea what I'd pick.

Although I doubt I would choose clothing as a way to raise money tbh

No. That's way too dressy. You can dress something up, much more difficult to dress it down.

I think I'd go with grey too.

NancyBotwin · 15/10/2009 10:03

I wouldn't have chosen something that was dry-clean only. Would probably have chosen something in grey jersey that could be washed and dried quickly overnight. Assume some minion has to take the dress to the drycleaners for her!

Bleh · 15/10/2009 10:43

There is the women who's wearing the same dress for a year, and I personally think that the dress she chose is much more versatile here

Actually quite liked that article. And the dress.

Slightly off-topic - at the side I saw yet another article by Leah Hardy about instant nose jobs or some such.

Does she write about anything other than herself and her appearance? Apart from MN, that is...

steaknifethroughtheheart · 15/10/2009 12:31

That Uniform Project dress is great, I love the variety she gets out of it and only looked at a week's worth of posts.
Much more versatile and adventurous than the purple number in the other article.

I read about someone doing the year in a dress thing, maybe in the Guardian or a magazine, but the woman wore a dress with buttons down the back, it was sleeveless, not black, maybe blue (can't remember now) but it was versatile.

I really don't like that purple dress in the link... don't think I could happily wear it once.

OrmIrian · 15/10/2009 15:24

...it would get very smelly.

I thought the article was o.k.
The dress was o.k.
Her shoes were alright.
I think she did quite well to make it look different.
No good having a dry clean thing though.
As a woman who has been back at work for a week, after mat leave, I agree, getting ready for work is nice. I'm sure that novelty will wear off very soon though !
