fit flop boots is this a step too far

I wore fit flop sandals all summer but am I totally losing the plot with these?

Bear in mind

a), I can't walk in heels because they do my knee in and am looking for flat boots for winter anyway

b) I work at home and therefore don't have much need for glamorous footwear. Don't however want to scare the other school-runners with my slumminess

c) I love, love my fit flop sandals and wore them every day for about four months (don't slim my bum though, that's nonsense)

These aren't cheap but I know I'd wear them a lot, possibly too much

Thoughts welcome

No, losing the plot would be these

Anything with a microwobbleboard must be really great, but £200 I think that you could prob find similar boots (no microwobbleboard) for less than half that.

Mukluks (same thing, but not as high up leg, as far as I can tell) are £125 tho.

Can't say I like them, personally

But a friend has just ordered some of those from Amazon.com (I think she said) for loads less than they cost in the UK, if you're interested

womma · 13/10/2009 21:54

I'm liking the Mukluks

ShutUpandDrinkYourGin · 13/10/2009 22:03

my mum has sciatica and is considering these for winter as the fit flops are the only thing that don't exacerbate the pain

Not sure that she'd wear them for work though

salvolatile · 13/10/2009 22:29

Have bought Mucluks from Cloggs on recommendation from friend. They are REALLY REALLY comfortable so I will wear them a lot, but agree that I think the fitness thing is nonsense. They have been Much Admired....

VulgarAchesButCanRun5k · 13/10/2009 23:21

I can't stop wearing my fitflops either Fierce!
I'm gonna buy some Mucluks when I have some pennies . . I love those longer ones but expensive!

wahwah · 14/10/2009 08:27

They do look lovely and cosy. I say buy them, you know you'll wear them to death.

I have the Mukluks and they are wonderful. I also have a pair of long shearling boots similar to the longer pair you show in the photo and they are great too - however, if you are looking for very easy pull-on/off and no struggling tucking jeans etc into the boots, the shorter style like the mukluks are a lot easier and quicker. Far less faffing about.

fiercebadrabbit · 14/10/2009 08:59

I think the shorter style might look weird on me, too skinny ankles

My concern about the longer ones is the drawstring - sounds weird and unnecessary to me. Am going to see a pair in rl before ordering online (given post is non existent in our parts this is safest anyway)

They are fairly close-fitting - my ankles are slimmish. I can pull skinny cords and jeans over the outside of them with no problem although I don't wear them like this usually.

I am going to Paris tomorrow and want to wear them because they are so comfortable. Will bottle out though as I think the style police would chuck me in the Seine

jeee · 14/10/2009 10:46

I saw them in John Lewis and thought that in a kind of Ugg(l)y way they were rather nice.

BloodshotEyeballs · 14/10/2009 10:47

I love the Mukluks. Have also lived in my fitlops since spring but am skint so I'll just have to admire the Mukluks from afar
