Everyday dresses - knitted or jersey - with leggings etc. Inspiration please ...

I read all the threads about what to wears with leggings and while there seem to be loads of recommendations for tunics, there seem to be less for dresses. I'm looking for jersey or knitted, NOT viscose. I live in the sticks, it's cold, I have 3 dcs and 3 dogs so nothing fancy or frilly or holey . I look hideous in gathered or a line as I'm a shortarse, 5.3" and size 10. In my head I know exactly what I'm after but I never seem to be able to find it. Lots of people say they live in simple dresses, where d'you get them from?

I saw some lovely knitted dress in New Look surprisingly. They were near the door and tempted me in as I don't normally shop there.

Will try to find a link.

OMG, it's a Chrostmas Jumper dress!

TrillianSlasher · 13/10/2009 10:32

So surprised that I mis-typed Christmas!

feellikeafraud · 13/10/2009 10:33

Yeah, it is a bit xmassy, I like it though, for stomping about in the winter in.

thepobblewhohadnotoes · 13/10/2009 10:41

Wow you're quick! Thank you.I like the first 2, I didn't notice the second one was christmassy. The third would be too fluffy, I'd get chicken food and mud stuck to it! And angora tends to shed doesn't it?

OP posts:
feellikeafraud · 13/10/2009 10:57

Yes I think it does. Although the patterned one is angora mix I think but when I felt it in the shop it wasn't sheddy, was kind of 'short' wool if that makes any sense.

Those are nice, but like the OP I'm still on the hunt for nice simple jersey dresses.

Anyone seen any of those? I'm really thinking of something like a glorified long t-shirt, with a nice cut and maybe jewel colours.

KristinaM · 13/10/2009 15:42

pobble - if you are dealing with chicken feed/mud/dogs then I'm not sure if a knitted dress of any description is the thing for you....

Drusilla · 13/10/2009 15:48

They have some in H&M - long, fitted (above the knee on me but I'm tall), long sleeves, jersey (like a thick t-shirt). Nice winter colours purple, dark green and so on.

Eve4Walle · 13/10/2009 19:54

This'll be like a dress on you - I'm 5ft 7in and it's too short for me to wear that way, but on you it'd be perfect. I have it in the berry colour. I have been recommending it all over the place, it's so lovely and versatile!

Boden Henley

redllamayellowllama · 13/10/2009 20:27

I have just today bought the perfect everyday dress. I am also 5.3" and a size 10 and this dress is making me a bit smug.

xml.riverisland.com/flash/content.php

struggling to link to the dress itself, so is page 2 of the day dresses, fourth one along.

redllamayellowllama · 13/10/2009 20:32

Jersey dresses, I'm American Apparel all the way. Don't be put off by their hideous website, they really are great.

This picture is particularly porno, but is lovely on. Their Henley dress is my all-time favourite dress - the small is a good fit on me and comes to just above the knee.

Uniqlo.

here - 2 pages

I like the merino ones - no zingy colours but good for layering with more colourful stuff. Maybe not for mucking out the chickens, mind ...
