I *need* a winter coat

I can't find a winter coat that I like anywhere.
Proviso's:
Under £50 they only ever last me 1 year.
Have a hood
Be warm
suitable for a size 14-16

Only found 2 I like and they were £80 & £120 and am fed up of looking......

Your budget is too low for anything nice.
John lewis have some lovely coats though. I bought a cashmere blend peacoat for £89.

at £50 being too low for anything nice. Surely there has to be some nice coats for this budget. Feeling a bit because my winter coat last year was nowhere near £50, it will last me throught this winter too and I thought it was nice.

If I had a budget of £50, I'd go to a secnod hand/charity shop to get somethnig well made rather than something new and cheap.

I got a coat today from Regatta as am fed up of minging soaking wet wool coats that don't dry between school runs and have to be dry cleaned - I am too poor to learn to drive so have to walk in all weathers.

It is waterproof, windproof, feminine and cost £19.99 to boot.

Depends what you are looking for. Formal? Practical?

I got it today in a factory outlet of Regatta.
They might have it on their site or something? Will look.
Think it was about £39.99 full price, £19.99 outlet price.

Has a hood, which you can tighten right in round your face if it's raining like a turtle, draw whatsits to nip the waist in and zips right up over your lips to keep the wind off them if you like without restricting speech.

This one from Debenhams is only just above your budget and maybe someone has a code for debenhams?

Or there is this one but it doesn't look warm enough for deepest winter.

I got a wonderful red coat from Primark one year. It wasn't more than £30 and it's wool. I still have it.

I have to say, regardless of the amount of money I had available to spend, I wouldn't pay more than a maximum of £30 for a coat. I still have a burgundy corduroy blazer I bought in Primark four years ago, for £1. It looks brand new!

Another vote for Asda here, they have great coats for £15 at the moment.

Debenhams have duffle coats in red and purple for £50. John Rocha I think, very nice. Someone on another thread was linking to an absolutely gorgeous purple one from tesco but don't know if it had a hood. If you want a coat rather than a jacket, more difficult to get something with a hood? Most coats don't have them. What have you found that you liked and couldn't afford?

Lands end will have coats in their sale and they're often vastly reduced.

The Asda coats are a good price BUT they are not really coats - they are jackets - wouldnt keep the bum-cheeks warm!

Got an ace duffel coat in Tesco for £35!
And while I was there they reduced a really nice purple (but hoodless) tulip coat to £10 So I had that aswell
So moondog 2 nice coats for £45!
